I thought we already had a sitcom thread?

Anyway, Gerald Sim, John Nettleton, Dora Bryan, Stephen Lewis, Geoffrey Hughes, Penny Marshall, John Horsley, Hywel Bennett, Tony Booth and Bill Pertwee would be amongst the next.

But then every so often we have somelike Anton Rdogers or that chap from 2.4 children that just go *snap* like that...

Do you mean this one?

You said that last year... :pop:

Edit: Actually, you said that two years ago... :D

Thanks OoO and guest, I've refrained from amalgamating as I was sure there was another thread addressing this subject but couldn't find it, if TMIB has no objections I will merge them tomorrow, but if TMIB would like to keep his thread, let me know.

Keith Barron is the kind of guy you half expect to find out has died suddenly of a heart attack and you go "Oh, wow, he's dead?" and then you never think of it again.

Either him or the block from that gold chains episode of "Only Fools and Horses" I always get him confused with.

Philip McGough

I share your confusion, though I always think it's Ray Brooks when I see that episode.

As I have had no feedback/objections, I have merged the threads. There are probably a few other threads for forgotten sitcom actors that could be merged into this one too (let me know if you come across one and I will do the necessary). If Godot, who started this homage to Mollie and her compatriots doesn't mind, I'd like to change the title to reflect that it is for all forgotten sitcom stars. Mollie can, of course, have a starring role in the byline.

That would make sense. Some of those oldies in the Vicar of Dibley such as John Bluthal could be worth reviewing.

Better known as dramatic actor but James Ellis boasts In Sickness and In Health and Ballykissangel amongst his lengthy credits. Turns 80 next year and had a fairly serious emotional upset just over twenty years ago when his son was murdered.

...not forgetting 'Nightingales' with Robert Lindsay & David Threlfall. I only saw it a couple of times but I remembered it being very strange!

Going back further (and entirely unconnected) I was thinking of Please Sir!

John Alderton is still with us (a mere 70 years old) but of the rest of the regular staff Richard Davies (Pricey) is the only survivor; he'll be 85 next month. I have no knowledge of his health or state of mind, so can't endorse him as a candidate, but you never know.

I still think the thread should be called No Place Like Tomb...

The actor Ricardo Montez best known for his role in best-forgotten sitcom Mind Your Language (he was the Spanish chap who queried everything he didn't understand with "por favor", much like Manuel and his "Que") died back in October, but this obit has only just appeared (hope no-one had him in a dead-pool).

His most recent outing was in the film version of Mamma Mia.

Not forgetting Citizen Smith. I grew up in Tooting at the time the series was being made and shown on TV.

Even played 5-a-side football against the TPF when they came to open our school fete

Green Green Grass was a pile of shit and Only Fools and Horses became rather dull after the 49 billionth repeat on Dave.

OFAH should have ended with the finally-becoming-millionaires episode, it was just tiresome after that.

I did quite enjoy the prequel though - unlike some, I wasn't expecting it to be more of the same. Didn't like Rodney playing his own father - decent performance from Nick Lyndhurst, but too distracting.

Bollocks bollocks bollocks. He was going to be on my list and then I saw him on TV and he looked quite well :banghead:

When I was a kid I never got the joke about him being a one-armed washer-upper in 'Robin's Nest' (oooh, a chance to mention Richard O'Sullivan!). I think I finally twigged about, umm, three years ago...

One of his best parts I thought.

David Kelly, him what played the comedy stereotype Irish labourer in that one episode of Fawlty Towers, has gone to meet the Good Lord aged 82.
