Dead Pop Stars

Recommended Posts

The National Enquirer seems to be fixated on Cher at the moment. I have linked to a website which covers the story but it is essentially coming from the NE.

I don't know what to believe. Is she ill or are the NE extrapolating from facts and coming to incorrect conclusions.

Cher is active on Twitter (as I learned through the Kirk Kerkorian thread). She seems fine.

Jack Ely with The Kingsmen of course. I've added his name as I didn't think to search on Louie Louie singer and if I hadn't spotted this I could have put it on the Dead on 2015 thread and that would have been embarrassing.

There are more singers who covered ''Louie Louie'' than I care to count, but his version was remarkable, if only because the FBI started a 31-month investigation to see if the song contained profanity and concluded they were "unable to interpret any of the wording in the record".

Somewhere or other, amongst the assorted weird shit on my CD shelves, I have a whole album of cover versions lf Louie Louie, which truly ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous.

2 DDP teams stand by their decision to pick him.

Fun Fact: Percy Sledge and Ben E King both had their songs used for Levi commercials:

If death comes in threes, than which other 60s soul legend is going to die soon? How is Al Green doing? (Apparently, fine.) Or Sly Stone?

When the night has come, and the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No, I won't be afraid, oh, I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
So darlin', darlin' stand by me
Oh stand by me
Oh stand, stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon should tumble and fall
Or the mountain should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no, I won't she'd a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin' stand by me
Oh stand by me
Whoa stand now, stand by me, stand by me
*Solo*

And darlin', darlin' stand by me
Oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me

Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me
Oh stand by me
Whoa stand now, oh stand, stand by me...

Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me
Oh stand by me
Whoa stand now, oh stand, stand by me...

Otis Williams, Little Richard and Smokey Robinson all seem ok too...but you never know.

Or it could just be Nick Kamen from another Levis commercial.

Indeed. As it was mentioned by YoungWillz a mere 9 hours before your post.

Whoosh.

I'm debating the category.

Whoosh

He was a pop star. Pop music is short for "Popular Music" so the music he was performing was popular at the time he was at the height of his fame.

Also if you were debating or questioning that Ben E. King should be included as a mention in this thread, perhaps you should include some punctuation. perhaps putting "Ben E King the pop star?" would make your debate a little clearer.
