This is win win, because if you are right and I am wrong I'll still be damned happy.

What is there to say about it? At least perhaps I'll feel less aggrieved when England play yet another negative game later? Ronaldo is a function of 'A list' celebs being granted more power and voice than they deserve. So far as I can tell, they'd have been better off without him, he didn't do much. His row Z effort was amusing mind. But it's hard to argue against the idea that Roberto Martinez was terrified of leaving him out. *Yes yes, I know I'm a football parvenu, but it's all gone quiet around here since everyone is still recovering from spending all Thursday night here instead of in bed. So I'll chatter to fill up the holes.

France performance was boring as hell, but unfortunately that’s not new. As for Cristiano, he’s clearly not the same as before, but at least he tries, he still goes on at 39, starting the shootout for Portugal, I admire that. The same goes for Pepe. That amused me too, 19-year-old Ronald would have buried that (hell, 38 year-old Ronaldo would have). 2 minutes ago, Sinbabad said: France performance was boring as hell, but unfortunately that’s not new. A strangely stilted performance from them, considering the players out there, thought they improved when Dembele came on for Griezeman (a bit like when Watkins came on for Kane previously). I'm sorry to see Portugal go out but not sorry to see Ronaldo go out. Pepe deserved better (still, I wouldn't put it past him to still be around for the World Cup). ladyfiona 2,572 Posted July 6 1 hour ago, time said: No one mentioning yesterday's France v Portugal game? All turned into Ronaldo fans have we? Ronaldo should have been subbed at half time. He's supposed to be a "Goat" up there with Messi and even Mbappe and yet every time he has been given an opportunity to shoot a goal in normal time he has missed. I even posted on social media yesterday that I felt he's got a bet with someone or been bribed to miss goals. Pepe at least tries to give the other players hell when trying to go for goal. His performance at his age was amazing.

His performance at his age was amazing. Including all the free kicks he's hogged, he had over 30 shots throughout the tournament and scored none of them. That's absolutely abysmal. He missed (by a colossal margin) an absolute sitter last night that I reckon even I'd have had a reasonable chance of scoring. He's an arrogant prick who believes that the sun is still shining on his career, but the last few glimmers of sunlight are rapidly setting and he needs to take his odious personality elsewhere. If you're going to be a twat, at least be a good-looking twat. Otherwise you give me zero cause to defend your presence. 1
MariNisia 4,180 Posted July 6 About Spain... my respects to Mr. Luis de la Fuente, extraordinary person, that without doubt he knows how to coach a team. He took on the difficult challenge of coaching a broken team which was down on moral. As a result of its highly-professional and serious work, Luis de la Fuente has transformed the Spanish team since taking over from Luis Enrique in December 2022. The team is under construction, but the roots of the tree are already growing. Congratulations to Mr. De la Fuente for his excellent work.

But then I wasn't right either. Lets call it a (1-1) draw... ...and 5-3 on pens
Master Obit 828 Posted July 6 I'm glad it went to penalties. I've been wanting to see Cole Palmer slip one in for a very long time.
maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted July 6 So, just talking to Mrs MPFC who suffered through that with me, I'm thinking we equal our best Euros performance from here (beaten finalists) but this time we're well beaten because I can't see us holding either Spain or France over 90 minutes. YoungWillz 21,014 Posted July 10 It's all go, isn't it? Commentator 1 - Not a penalty. Commentator 2 - Not a pen for me. Referee Expert ; Kicks him on the follow through, not a penalty. Commentator 3 - Yes definitely not a penalty. Referee - Penalty. Kane scores. Hilarious.
Master Obit 828 Posted July 10 Yeah it was a soft penalty but we've had bad decisions go against us in the past. Sometimes you benefit from shocking decisions, sometimes you get royally screwed. As long as there are referees with subjective opinions, there will be bad decisions. I'd rather we win more legitimately, though.

That said, England are playing well. But I disagree it was a soft penalty. It wasn't a penalty. Gary Neville was right as was everybody else except Ian Wright, who apparently is a prick these days. The game is being rigged before your very eyes.

I'm curious how far it extends.
YoungWillz 21,014 Posted July 12 As we are back and running (for how long?) well done England. Deserved to win with their first decent performance. (Despite the "penalty"). Final prediction: Spain 6 - England 2. 1
