Deathray 2,941 Posted January 6, 2016 At least 19,000 people are watching a puddle in Drummond Park in which the most interesting thing to happen is a guy with a pink lilo and someone bringing a wetfloor sign... https://www.periscope.tv/w/1YpKkrVPNVyxj What the fuck has the world come to? Ah, but it's not the puddle they're watching, it's the perennial pastime of people-watching that's going on here. That said, this was the best one for me "I'll never let go, Jack" https://twitter.com/JonnyGabriel/status/684753255398785024 The bloke who just jumped it in one motion deserves credit. The livestreams just ended and it's had over half-a-million unique viewers. Apparently a lot of people don't like their jobs!
charon 4,943 Posted January 6, 2016 Was there not a boy like that last year, or the one before , that had a foot trapped in a grate and drowned as the water level rose even though there were people with him ?

I'd be content as a starter with "what" is a low rate alcoholic? It's Lemmy. And it's someone who drinks to excess over a reasonably long life (60-80 years rather than 20-40) to a degree that isn't causing them the immediate threat of early death (in their 20s and 30s) but is still going to kill them prematurely. Deathray 2,941 Posted January 18, 2016 The prohibitive expense of learning to drive. I'd love to but: Lessons are daftly expensive (in the £15-25 pound an hour balllpark) Insurance on a family members car is daftly expensive I've got to retake my theory test because it's expired. There's a fucking long waiting list for practical test, meaning any driving instructor can use that to string me along. Intensive course are disproportionately expensive in comparison to the standard lessons of the same. And then once I've saved up for years to find all that the price of cars is far too much even second hand and on a street corner insuring the car would cost two to three times that expense because I'm under 21 even with blackbox tracking and passplus (which is another shit tonne of money) the cost of taxing the car is a pain in the arse. RandomCanadian 105 Posted January 19, 2016 Two and half years ago I purchased decent used car from my now former boyfriend with the intention of giving it to daughter #2 as a graduation gift. The car is still in my name. I started off teaching her to drive and she was doing great. We made up songs for her to remember road rules and such. Then her dad took over the lessons and destroyed her confidence. She is unnecessarily cautious and drives too slow. So far she has failed two road tests and the next one is scheduled for March. *fingers crossed*
YoungWillz 21,075 Posted January 19, 2016 Good luck! Hope she gets her confidence up and passes. I gave up driving years ago, the costs were just a drain on me running the darn things and when I gave up the job located where I could only get to in time by driving, I scrapped my last one and swore never to drive again. Taxi if I really need one, but trains are handy for me.
RandomCanadian 105 Posted January 19, 2016 You and me both and thanks! My oldest has no interest in driving and son #1 would like to drive but feels he shouldn't. Son #2 might drive but that is a few years off. We have decent transit with a bus stop right outside the complex and LRT close.

RandomCanadian 105 Posted January 20, 2016 My laptop needed service today. It was only supposed to take 20 minutes so I made my way over to IT with a book to read while I waited. The IT guys and I started talking cars. It turned out we all owned Volkswagens (GTI, cc and two Tiguans). Service took longer than 20 minutes to fix the laptop problem but I had a great time. time 8,626 Posted January 20, 2016 Those National Lottery commercials. The ones with Noel Edmonds/Katie Price etc. - 'Don't let it be him/her'. I'm neither stupid enough to believe that me winning the lottery reduces their chance of getting a share, nor that they aren't already wealthy enough to do whatever they want regardless of any lottery win. (P.S. I don't actually do the lottery. I'm not that stupid either).

The head of VW UK has stated that UK owners will get no compo in regards to the Diesel emissions scandal. My car is actually affected as its got a VW Diesel engine, not that I give a shit TBH but, once again, the Yanks will get a windfall in compo and Europe will get fuck all. Wankers.
