I know that Kate Bush can divide opinion but culturally she is one of the most significant British female artists. The first woman to have a self penned No.1 single and the first woman to top the album charts, her first tour was innovative but everyone gave Madonna plaudits for doing something similar 5 years later. She has refused to conform and has dictated the terms of her own career and the product is unique. Like Bowie the fact that it is original can make mistakes but British music would be diminished without such talents.
