The widow of former Florida governor Lawton Chiles, who defeated Jeb Bush, Rhea Chiles, has died at 84:

http://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/article/Former-Florida-First-Lady-Rhea-Chiles-dies-at-age-6618484.php

I'm going out on a limb to suggest there never was before or since a couple named Lawton & Rhea.

Joan Plowright would absolutely get an obituary

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Plowright

Betsy Drake who was married to Cary Grant (though not his widow) might get one on a slow death day.

The news that Betsy Drake has died at 92 back on October 27th breaks on a fast news day. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/betsy-drake-dead-cary-grant-838970

If, someday in the future I became a DDP pick (due to some rare cancer, no doubt), I'd be so proud. But then, I am, admittedly, a bit weird.

If I died right this second, probably enough for the Deathrace (due to mentions in local papers), but nowhere near DDP levels.

Should I ever become a cancer dad with obit chances one day, I'll be certain to let you know. :P

I should get an obit, 'cos I've got a wiki page.

One of the DDP picks that are more on the leading contenders are Van Cliburn, Henry Cecil, Bonnie Franklin, Hugo Chavez and Reg Presley. They seriously picked Nelson Mandela for 2013?

That snark turned out well.

After watching "Great Balls of Fire" on TV the other night, and since Jerry Lee Lewis and his former teenage bride Myra Gale Brown are both still alive.
I got thinking about who else was around at that time, and found out that María Elena Holly, widow of Buddy Holly is still alive at 82.

Last news article I could find was from 2008 when she threatened legal action against Peggy Sue Gerron to stop her autobiography from being published.

Anyone else have any health info / news on her?

Maria Barreneche has died at 89. http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/206198/mar%C3%ADa-barreneche-ra%C3%BAl-alfons%C3%ADns-widow-dies

She was the widow of Raul Alfonsin, former President of Argentina, whose death was reported here: http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6983&p=132346

Edit: Probably should have gone in First Ladies thread, ho-hum.

Lady Joan Bader, widow of Douglas Bader, dead at 94. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/widow-legendary-ww2-pilot-sir-7090416

I got to meet Sir Douglas Bader when I was about 7 or 8.

It was at a charity fete at Queen Mary's hospital in Roehampton, London.

He was very arrogant, and barely spoke to anyone.

Or was he, dare I suggest it, entirely legless? DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar, need I say more?
