Ah yes, Bruiser - better known these days as the celebrated artist, Alexander - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_de_Cadenet

Anyone's guess whether this is serious or more chancing at a higher level.

Anyone see the GP today? The sit-down eco-protest kicked off after the first corner pile up. Just wondering if they took advantage of the accident to storm the track or if they'd planned that moment anyway. If it was the second one then the protesters probably don't know how lucky they are

Stabbed to death, he'd have been safer in a racing car, then

That's sad. I only met him once, at a car manufacturers meeting at the SMMT. Great way to build cars - marine plywood bulkheads and GRP curvy outer panels.

In a similar vein about meeting people once, I'm thinking Paddy Hopkirk will really be getting on by now. On checking I find he is 81. And I was astounded to see him still pushing his brand in a business meeting back in 2004. Made of sturn stuff these old motor sports guys.

Paddy Hopkirk reportedly dead:

Paddy Hopkirk's obits should mention an act of selflessness in the London-Sydney marathon rally. He stopped to pull people - including Lucien Bianchi - from crashed cars that were starting to burn, cost him a likely victory in the event - but won him loads of praise. Bianchi, btw, only lived a few more months before completing the job he started in Australia and dying in a motor sports accident, as did his nephew - Jules - many years later.

Sorry, my bad - either way, one of those families who've lost more than one brave soul to the dangers of the sport

There's definitely now a large amount of candidates for a racing team on any DP;

Cancer: John Andretti, v. Rooyen

Parkinsons: Tambay, Laffite, Posey and W Fittipaldi

General very poor health: Edwards, Lederle, Lauda, Moss, Schumacher, Pairetti, Herd, Jassaud

Dementia: H Hahne

Drinks/drugs: Melo

Old: McAlpine, Rhodes, Marr, Ecclestone, M Walker, da Silva Ramos and so many more.

Carlos Pairetti hospitalised with pneumonia and kidney failure, but not too serious it seems.

Alex Zanardi now fully conscious, able to see and listen and expected to be able to speak soon.

Zanardi's home goes on fire. He was not harmed, but "some of the machines that help him may be damaged" and he could be moved to a specialized centre in the next few days.

As the expression goes, if that man fell into a barrel of tits he'd come out sucking his thumb.

Former NASCAR driver Ron Hutcherson (wiki) is apparently under hospice care, although I cannot find any other information besides this single tweet.

Been a while since the last OoO update, wondering if there's any new info about certain old racing drivers. Especially curious on anything about Jean-Pierre Jabouille (supposedly has dementia according to his friend and former racing driver Jacques Laffite).

Nothing concrete as to affliction but if Peter Windsor says he's ill, he is ill. Laffite and Tambay have Parkinsons.

Can't seem to embed the tweet for some reason;

Here's wishing the very best to three ace, French #F1 drivers who are not very well - Jacques Laffite, Patrick Tambay and Jean-Pierre Jabouille.
