Which makes what happened over the last few months a monumental waste of time.

He might have decided the risk of losing the next general election is too high and he would never like to be evicted by the public so will bail out now.

He could urge Rishi to keep the likes of JRM in the cabinet.

Like no direct deal but he could urge Sunak to include people from all wings of the party - nudging him to keep some of his core supporters involved.

Rumours of a deal where he returns to the FCO and runs those policies while Sunak is PM running everything else.

Boris clearly isn't that confident at all if he is talking to Rishi.

I think he might withdraw soon. Through the papers don’t seem to think information from the meeting will come for a few hours.

He doesn't seem that close or getting much movement with MPs unlike Rishi.

Penny may get some votes based off her interview with Laura K in the morning. Jacob Rees-Mogg will be there to cheer on Boris as well. If Boris was serious about this he'd be there himself.

Boris seems to have made himself look a right tit if this bears out. He'd have probably looked better sitting it out at the start. The whole Churchillian return bollox was too tempting for him

There was no Churchillian return.

Churchill lost and election but stayed on as party leader and won the next election. A bit different to most of your party turfing you out because you're shite and then maybe taking you back because you are marginally less shite than the shitshow they replaced you with.
