maryportfuncity 10,655 Posted October 4, 2012 Jeremy Forrest is going to be extradited back to the UK soon. Doubtless a fleeting target for others on the remand wing until he's sprung. Though I don't think even hardened crims would think him worth killing. Bit ambitionless too IMHO. I mean, if he had any sense he'd have taken the pair of them off to Equador...and they'd still be there now!

maryportfuncity 10,655 Posted November 3, 2012 Given his rootless wanderings, psychopathic tendencies to seize control of a situation by committing murder and the generally hideous nature of his crimes it's doubtful whether Stephen Farrow will find prison with no hope of release to be a very positive experience. Always hard to call these situations but self-harm/ excitable types on his wing etc etc, he's a long-odds contender for the likes of us. Also, he's our kinda guy. His idea of a PAA-AAA-RRR-TTT-YYYY!! involves beer, DVDs and a dead vicar. Hell, if only Come Dine With Me had dropped round that night, we'd have saved police time and got TV gold into the bargain! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/psychopath-homeless-drifter-obsessed-with-religion-found-guilty-of-murdering-vicar-and-retired-teacher-8277349.html
maryportfuncity 10,655 Posted November 9, 2012 What about Anders Breivik? He might end up killing himself in prison... I don't think so. I think he will want to hang around in prison being a reminder to the whole nation. Suicide I don't think will fit in with his narrative. However, being attacked and killed by another inmate probably would. This is such a hard situation for the Norwegian authorities. Octopus of Odstock 2,203 Posted November 19, 2012 Xolile Mngeni, whose health could be crucial in influencing the result of this year's DDP, was in court today. He doesn't appear to be very well but I'm not at all sure he won't stagger in to 2013. Lots of UK press interest in his case, though. Don't let the bastards grind you down, Xoxo. Until at least January 1st 2013. Mngeni's off my DDP shortlist for 2013 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-20395320 - you will see, of course, that he has been found guily of murder, but the fact that 1) brain tumour has been removed, it's not as if he's not had surgery 2) defence lawyers are claiming a few health-related matters but clemency over him having a few months to live isn't one of them 3) the judge says he's fit to face trial (easily the key one) and 4) defence lawyers are pretty slippery with the truth mean...... although he's not doing well for his young age, I don't see him going next year.. and if he survives 2013, he'll make a few more years yet. Bert Trautmann 58 Posted December 19, 2012 What do we reckon to Brian Shivers? He's one of the last ones I'm debating over for my team, he's very old for someone with Cystic Fibrosis but if he's lasted 46 years why not 47, or will prison finish him off? Octopus of Odstock 2,203 Posted December 19, 2012 What do we reckon to Brian Shivers? He's one of the last ones I'm debating over for my team, he's very old for someone with Cystic Fibrosis but if he's lasted 46 years why not 47, or will prison finish him off? Well, I've just taken him off my shortlist of 30. I could do a really, really long-winded explanation, but I'll just settle for long... where I've probably overthought this, but the main reasons for dropping him are; 1) I'm not entirely convinced that he has full-blown CF. Now, the reason I say this, is that he was diagnosed with CF as an adult, which is unusual, but not impossible. But his chief "defence" was that he'd just been told that he had 5-6 years to live and his frame of mind wasn't normal. Now, if he had full-blown CF, one he wouldn't have likely made it to 43 (at the time of shooting) and 6 more years would be incredibly generous. I suspect he has something lung based similiar to CF. 2) He was told he had between 4-6 years to live in 2009. So 2013 would be the first year he was expected to die... but he could last as long as 2015. 3) Defence lawyers are not well known for telling the truth. 4) "years to live" with criminals is so difficult to garner the truth... Peter MacBeth should be dead by now, but he's still in jail and alive AFAIK. 5) Despite CF he managed to go in and out of court and appear in court remarkably well. The only reason I didn't drop him sooner was this - http://www.bbc.co.uk...reland-19355298 I've no doubt he's ill, but I think with so many good alternative candidates that despite his young age in DDP terms, it's a pick that I feel comfortable about if he dies and I don't pick him, rather than curse and damn if he pops off and Dora Bryan continues to thrive....
