Ideas And Possibilities For 2016

Recommended Posts

I caught a bit of the thing with the concentration camp guy on the TV, he seems in excellent shape so the obit debate doesn't matter "anyroads".

Felt really bad for laughing at his name so much but after listening to his violin playing, I think we're even.

How about Robert Wyatt ?

70 now, has given up music and hinted at health issues at the end of last year.

Plus most of his contemporaries are dead.

He'd be an interesting pick. The Canterbury musicians seem to have had a higher mortality rate than other prog rockers. I have no idea what his health situation is though.

Folowing the death of Chris Squire from Yes, one other prog rocker worth watching is John Wetton of King Crimson, UK and Asia who is battling metastatic cancer at the moment, and has had quite a lot of health problems over the years. I think Wetton would be a good DL pick for 2016 as things don't look too good for him right now.

Do you have any links to any recent interviews with Wyatt?

2016 for 2016

I look forward to being able to keep on top of this lot from now on.

Out of curiosity, what is the 2016 for 2016? Other than what I can make an educated guess on (though 2016 names on one deadpool does seem a bit much...).

It's exactly that.

You can all thank me later..... Of course there is the obit question.

"James R. Messenger, the American Telephone & Telegraph Company employee who conceived The Theory of the Information Age on December 12, 1982, then led the effort to create a global digital telecommunications infrastructure to enable the worldwide interconnection of computers, has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer."

Someone told me he is dead and gave a link to this post - but the link only says he is ill.

Viacom CEO Sumner Redstone may be doing MUCH worse than it has been told:

http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2015/05/sumner-redstone-retirement-health-viacom-future

And now will be unable to attend next week's CBS Corp annual meeting, due to declining health, 'but hopes to attend next year's meeting'. Sumner Sumner Sumner (smh)

I know this post was made months ago, but here's an 'update' saying that Sumner has been in failing health ever since.

I'm somewhat unsure whether she will get a British obit, but she otherwise would seem to be a good choice.

I think a certain death would be Huston Smith; that is, if he even makes it to 2016.

Bishop Geoffrey Robinson could also be a strong candidate:

Watching Dominic Sandbrooks's Real History of Science Fiction series from last year, and Alan Ladd Jr looks and sounds like someone who has or had throat cancer. Considerably frailer than the last thing I saw him in a few years back. More of a placeholder than a "slam dunk": we need a thread for "people looking frailer than usual".

Maybe Rachel Denton, "One of Britain's few officially recognized Roman Catholic hermits":

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3269366/I-hermit-m-human-Reclusive-former-nun-says-social-media-internet-shopping-make-shunning-human-contact-easy.html

She has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and looks rather bad for her 52 years. Also, even though she's a hermit, she likes to use social media and has already invited the Daily Mail and the Guardian into her home:

Heenan will be around for a while yet. He beat his cancer into remission around 2008, and his frail looking appearance since is due to not having a working jaw.

Lamar Odom:

http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/14/us/lamar-odom-condition/

Perhaps he'll be another case like Bobbi Kristina Brown. (Who died 6 months after being found unconscious).

Odom has a "50/50" chance of surviving and overdosed on performance enhancing drugs, coke and drinks at the brothel. Lamar spent over "five figures" and is still legally married to one of the Kardashians.

Daniel Fells:

Maybe not an excellent candidate for deathlist, but might be worth considering for another deathpool in which age matters.

Gino Odjick was diagnosed as terminally ill a bit over a year ago, "might" have until early 2018:

We (in good ole 'Murica) haven't really had any young celebrities died this year so far, so Lamar Odom fits the bill of this year's dead young big time celebrity. Well, I suppose you can sorta count Beau Biden (vice President Joe Biden's son), but Lamar Odom will fit the bill as this year's big-time celebrity to have died young of a drug overdose. Each year, we've had at least one (and in many cases, multiple celebrities) die of drug overdoses so Lamar needs to fill in this year's quota!

2007: Anna Nicole Smith

2008: Heath Ledger, Brad Renfro

2009: Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy

2010: Corey Haim. Gary Coleman

2011: Amy Winehouse

2012: Whitney Houston

2013: Cory Monteith

2014: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Williams (he died of suicide, but has had major drug problems in the past)
