Garn2 34 Posted March 3, 2015 Just over three years after unsuccessfully shooting himself in the head, actor Daniel von Bargen has died from complicatons of diabetes. Played a bunch of military/cop types in many films and shows; Commandant Spangler in Malcolm in the Middle probably his most famous.

Unsuccessfully dying from shooting himself in the head? What would that even mean? He did not actually die. Why not add more clutter? Unsuccessfully trying to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head, maybe? Or unsuccessfully trying to split hairs?

Incidentally there are is almost a club of people shot in the head but survived the 'experience'. From spurned husbands/wives to victims of crime or police shootings. A short search will reveal as much. One I know from memory is general of the Luftwaffe Kurt Student, who got shot in the head by friendly fire, shortly after the Battle of Rotterdam in May 1940. He was fixed up by Dutch surgeon dr. van Staveren, and a year later he commanded the German forces in the Battle of Crete.

Indeed, if you're not too squeamish there are surely still pictures on line of the survivor from the two guys who set out to shoot themselves after listening to Judas Priest. He still - kind of - has a face, if you get my drift, but he certainly continues to live.

He left behind a one year old daughter, so someone was able to see past his disfigurement, although I'm trying not to picture the scene.
