My older guinea pig was born in the final weeks of the Cameron government. Five prime ministers in a guinea pig's lifetime!

On the Tory membership being given another say after just 45 days

I'm not one for defending the Tory members (they clearly picked by far the riskier and more extreme option) but, to be fair, they were fuming their choice was either Truss or Sunak. They all wanted Mordaunt. Let's see if they go that way next time, since they seem hell bent in having a say again.

Probably would've done a better job as PM as well!

Jess Phillips and Rachel Johnson on Question Time tonight.

Note it seems to be on at 8pm.

Should be fun.

It’s hard to see why Sunak and Mordaunt will do a deal. Sunak will likely be a bit ahead of Mourdant in Mp support but she would win the membership

Nominations close on Monday at 2pm and by that time, the candidate needs to secure backing from at least 100 MPs, according to Brady.

Be surprised if Boris could command those kind of numbers

Most likely not. Only if Tory mps buckle.

A threshold that high would likely rule out the likes of Johnson, Badenoch and Braverman, and may even be a stretch for Mordaunt depending on who else stands.

That's one thing they're good at.

Boris already way ahead with 33 backers I’ve heard…

Yes, but that will be his die hard supporters aka the few who didn’t resign to make him fuck off last time.

If the Tories suddenly in get smart, and they won't, whoever comes in should go for an election sometime in March. Labour will whinge about it not being NOW but they will be on a campaign footing for a shoe in. The Tories will get 5 odd months to turn shit around, they won't, leaving Labour to deal with the hike in energy prices and all the other shit too. They will blame the Tories and the public will say' so what? You are the government now and you promised to deal with it all. Fascinating, truly fascinating.....
