Bullard hosted "Open Mike...with Mike Bullard" from 1997 to 2003, on CTV. A later effort on Global TV lasted 13 weeks. Bullard, a stand-up comic by trade and former radio personality, was accused by ex-girlfriend, reporter Cynthia Mulligan, of stalking. Bullard pleaded guilty to one charge of criminal harassment. She was severely crippled by the operation, to the point of being unable to walk or speak for several months and only slowly started getting movement back with assistance. She died last month, a year after the operation, although it sounds like it was still unexpected, so must have been an unforeseen complication.
