Ok, let's see the entries. If I have a query, I'll get back to the player to make their case for inclusion.

Subs may play a part here, so gimme five!

And let's avoid :vulture:

You are going to start a separate thread for it, I hope.

I recommend placemarking an early post for the Masterlist to be added later on, as Maryport does.

Oh yes, opening tomorrow once I've done the leaderboard for the Hare's. That should be enough time to cobble something together for the grand opening just as the Cup finishes.

Good luck, YW.

On the other hand, I plan to put my feet up imminently, deadpooling wise,  till mid-November when the first Crowdsourced lists arrive in my PM box!

An indication of how quiet it's been recently, Jokers, inverse and Hartlepool dead pools have all slipped to Page 2 of this forum. Some big departures must be due, me thinks

July/August have always been quiet deadpooling months, iirc.

In before someone brings up Stats to prove me wrong.

Total per year:

2005: 6

2006: 5

2007: 10

2008: 6

2009: 9

2010: 5

2011: 3

2012: 8

2013: 3

2014: 5

2015: 2

2016: 10

On average, your getting about 6 contending deaths in July - August period, with it sometimes going higher or lower depending on the year, ranging from 2 - 10 deaths. So it's not necessarily a quiet period for the DDP. If I had to guess, we got one already in the form of Smith Hart, and at least a couple of others on the way out, I reckon we could reach at least the average in this time frame...

Just letting you know I'll start working on the thread for the Deathrace in a couple of weeks and likely post it and open up for entries on or by 1 Nov

Given the tonnage of deadpools hereabouts can I assume there'll be enough interest - i.e. about 12-20 teams - to make it worthwhile?

Usual deal - teams of 20, points for every calendar day to go in the year when a pick dies, jokers, 18+ for team picks and fairly tolerant attitude to what exactly is a q/o and a full set of rules confirming all this so's everyone who can be arsed reading them is duly warned of what's going on.

Deathrace is one of the big 3 alongside the DDP and Hartlepool Deadlypool. Of course there'll be interest imo.

Big 3 - no shit?

I'll put together an information pack for potential sponsors.

Co-op Funeral Care will want to, surely

I’ll be back with a stronger deathrace team this year. Got in the top three last time, so that’ll make me want to work harder to win this year.

I will be back with my laughable bunch of dead cert survivors. Hope it lasts a bit longer than last year.

Deathrace is even no. 2 for me. And I usually suck at it. Hopefully, the Deathlist Cup gave me the necessary experience to do better with the quick deaths.

I am hoping Scavenger Hunt ends before we get into the end of year/new year chaos.

Me too, 2017 just wasn't the same with no Deathrace entry.

Aw, man - that's sweet. Half a dozen decent teams already in there and a masterlist in preparation; some of the tottering talent would be doing us a favour to hang on in there for three weeks.

Like I said, I hope for 40 people to participate in deathrace this year in order to improve the already amazing dead pool...

DDP

All of your chosen celebs must be:

  • Human. No famous animals please.
  • At least 18 years old as at 1st January 2018. (i.e. born before  01/01/2000)

-----------------
Can't say I agree with this rule.  We had this issue with Malala Youfsazi a couple years ago, who was 17 on Jan 1 but was clearly a murder target.  We agreed the person would get no points until she turned 18.  That seems a hell of a lot fairer than eliminating all people who are 18 the upcoming year.  So if they were born on Jan 2 they would sit around for 364 days of valid age, but not allowed in DDP?  Anyway, in my DP we adopted the 'Malala Rule' lol to cover this situation.

Just thought I'd voice an alternative to the posted rule.  I understand no changes will be made now or ever.

Only just seen this Joey

You hope for me to spend New Year's Eve ignoring the festivities, and double checking names and those who picked them, eh?
