gcreptile 10,930 Posted January 23, 2016 A question: The player of the month, does it only include a single team, or actual player? One of my aims this year was to become "player of the month" once. And my combined teams have scored more than anyone else.
themaninblack 2,112 Posted January 23, 2016 Awaiting an obit for Yasutaro Koide. Like this one? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/12107492/Worlds-oldest-man-Yasutaro-Koide-dies-in-Japan-aged-112.html Cheers man. I wasn't sure tbh whether those counted Asian pages in UK newspapers are fine. It is only Scottish Newspapers that have been excluded (despite the fact that the Daily Record and Herald combined sell approximately the same number of print copies as the Guardian and the Independent combined) (238,00 as opposed to 246,00) As do Scotland pages, which is why you got your points. Remember...
themaninblack 2,112 Posted January 23, 2016 This is from one of the websites reporting Craig Strickland's death: The official time and cause of death is still to be determined by the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office. However, they can confirm there were no indications of drug or alcohol use, or any suspicion of foul play. I shall await official confirmation of the estimated time of his death before I make a final decision. I have sent an email to both teams that picked him telling them of the situation and giving them the option (open until the end of this month) of exchanging selections/joker picks. And my combined teams have scored more than anyone else. Well you may be best to lay low with that Shameless 'theme team'. Just sayin. I'm actually glad you are proving a point and hopefully the Hassan Asif's of the world will no longer be allowed. I hope you win the whole enchilada with that team. It's the only way change will happen. BUT......if you want to anger a lot of people around here keep promoting the success of that team. SC
msc 18,385 Posted January 24, 2016 In 2007, there was a team called No Noose is Good Noose. It was made up entirely of death row inmates across the world, and was quite controversial. It started well, but tailed off as the teams with more clever picks overtook it. I expect the same to happen to Shameless, which will be further hampered by those who die and don't get obits, and those who defy the odds.
Switch 141 Posted January 24, 2016 Is that why you can no longer pick death row inmates?
Sir Creep 7,068 Posted January 24, 2016 Is that why you can no longer pick death row inmates? You can pick them if they die of natural causes.....not being guillotined though. SC

The Mad Hatter 1,092 Posted January 24, 2016 Is that why you can no longer pick death row inmates?and the fact that Executions can be scheduled before the end of the year. So its pretty much cheating just look at this http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/upcoming-executions. Executions are scheduled mouths in advance plus alot of death listers seem to be against justice for some reason.
En Passant 3,728 Posted January 24, 2016 plus alot of death listers seem to be against justice for some reason. You seriously expect this statement to go unchallenged? The death penalty != justice. Any punishment may in one persons eyes be insufficient or conversely in anothers eyes too draconian. It is not a binary choice on any level and particularly with respect to what is considered the ultimate penalty. Simply stating that the death penalty is justice is an oversimplification of massive proportions. And anyway many executions are often delayed beyond the date set, so there is always an element of doubt about any actual date until it's been done.

En Passant 3,728 Posted January 24, 2016 oh for sure, completely agree on that one. as sc points out (and others doubtless have previously) they should only count if its natural causes whilst on death row.

SC Hey, with Monty Brinson dead, I have two teams in the top 10 now, not even counting the possible (?) obit for Michel Delpech. That's got to count for something... But as written above, yes, Shameless will drop a little. A couple of very iffy cases of obitability. Should be good for 70-80 pts though.

Death Impends 7,924 Posted January 25, 2016 Saw on Brinson's DDP profile that there was zero birth info on him so I did some searching and found a public records directory page that lists 21 November 1957 as his DOB (not linking directly because I always feel a bit creepy viewing those types of pages! But if you Google "monty brinson 1957" it'll be there)
Sir Creep 7,068 Posted January 25, 2016 List of the Lost: French actor Michel Galabru has died: http://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2016/celebs_G.html#galabm The source is the BBC, but unfortunately the French version: http://www.bbc.com/afrique/monde/2016/01/160104_galabru_dies Last year, this would have counted... Would THIS count? look at the last photo.... "On Tuesday, a woman in the Moroccan coastal city of Safi places flowers on the door of the house where popular French actor and comedian Michel Galabru was born on 27 October 1922. He died the previous day in Paris." (why I'm helping others I don't know ..... lol it's all in good fun. I'd want help for me too so it's karma) SC
