YoungWillz 21,024 Posted June 15, 2020 Gawd it's quiet. Too quiet. By half.
Joey Russ 7,220 Posted October 13, 2020 Fascinating. October 10th (the day Vasili Kulkov died) only has 7 names mentioned. And if you remove the red links, it goes down to 5. The most deathless day in a while?
Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted January 6, 2021 Only five deaths for the end of play GMT today - one "death reported on" that we know happened a few days ago (Alan Igbon) and a racehorse among them. So it's just a Moldovan MP from the early 90s, a Newport County winger from the 50s and the head of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

gcreptile 10,963 Posted January 26, 2021 Yesterday was a curious day. 5 names so far, one red name, one race horse, two accidents. It's almost as if nobody died of natural causes.
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted May 21, 2021 Today will qualify unless someone dies soon. Literally not a single notable obit on DL.
Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted June 9, 2021 Only four deaths on Wikipedia for yesterday: Haitian priest, Indian politician, Russian lower-league footballer and Pakistani drummer. 12 hours into today and no cadavers listed. Got to be one of the quietest 36 hours on record. Has Pfizer just made everyone immortal?

So 28 in total but I compared that to June 8/9 2020 and it was a whopping 56. Of course you have to factor in people getting added over time but I think 30 people in one day must be close to Highest I've seen. Would be great (though can't think of a way how) if we could see the day with least and most amount of 'notable' deaths .
arghton 6,695 Posted June 14, 2021 13 on June 8th now. Worst days probably include 26th of December 2004 (Only 20 deaths mentioned on the wiki page, probably even more, but still a large amount for an old incomplete list. Half, ten of these were untimely passings due to the 2004 indian ocean earthquake and tsunami: all except one of these ten were under 50) 27th of December had 3 notable deaths, the following days until 2005 had under 8 so even 10 was a large amount. 10th of April, 2010 - 63 deaths: 12 other deaths and... 51 deaths in the 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash, including many lead politicians, religious and army figures of the country and importantly the then-President of Poland Lech Kaczynski (1949-2010), his wife and 1989-1990 President-in-Exile Ryszard Kaczorowski (1919-2010) Michael Schudrich (b. 1955) the Chief Rabbi of Poland refused to go because it was Sabbath. This saved his life. Kaczorowski's wife Karolina (1930-2021) wasn't on board either.

arghton 6,695 Posted June 16, 2021 Three notable deaths today this far. Two of them indian movie stars, other one had looked dead over 11 years and the other appeared in around five (somewhat notable) movies according to wikipedia. The third one was a 94-y old Chinese geotechnical specialist.
arghton 6,695 Posted July 3, 2021 The end of last month had some deaths. Three days of July have passed and the deaths this far have been not-so-notable people of which the only one I've ever heard before was a racehorse. The grim reaper probably decided to take a few days off after dragging Rumsfeld into hell

arghton 6,695 Posted July 22, 2021 Lots of people with wikipedia pages seem to have died today and yesterday, but I don't recognize any of them. Mostly Asians and Africans (as always, a lot of them are politicians who weren't even that known in their home country) who were in their 70s and 80s. DL very quiet, Big deaths coming? Probably not anytime soon

arghton 6,695 Posted August 2, 2021 Deaths today (2nd of August) this far, not counting ones that died before but were only announced today: A Mexican footballer Two olympic competitors, one won a silver medal, never heard of either though An Indian playback singer German politician with no English wikipedia And the most notable one was probably a Japanese wrestler who was mentioned here a couple of times before due to his cancer fight
