So much for Valentine's romance!

The Seattle Aquarium canceled the annual octopus mating event after fears that the 70-pound male octopus, Kong, would eat the smaller female octopus. This is unlike the human species where after mating, the female devours every aspect of the males life.

Were they afraid Kong would eat the nameless female before sex?

As I understand it, octopusses die after mating anyway. I don't see a problem in one of the particpants making an after sex snack out of the other. I don't recommend that for humans, though.

Penguin colony goes from 160000 to 10000 in five years, soon to be extinct. An iceberg (aka global warming) to blame.

Reporters standing around watching it happen reminds me of the classic Sam Kinnison joke re: film crew who make the commercials about poor third world starving children.

Two top competitors in Alaska's Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race were attacked by a snowmobiler Saturday morning, leaving one of their dogs dead and injuring six other canines.

The suspect, Arnold Demoski, 26, was arrested on charges of assault in the third degree, one count of reckless endangerment, one count reckless driving and six counts of criminal mischief in the fifth degree, according to Alaska State Troopers.

What a fucking ice-hole.

Here's a picture of Nash, the dog that was killed.

Horrifying photos (and videos!) out of India show a wild elephant tossing a man into the air and trampling him to death in West Bengal on Monday, just a day after several other people in the state suffered a similar fate. The previous day, three elephants reportedly killed a group of four other people. Authorities tranquilized a male elephant, which later died, but an adult female and a calf ran away.

Millions of fish have washed up dead along a 125-kilometre stretch of the Vietnamese coast in one of the communist country's worst environmental disasters. Soldiers have been deployed to bury tonnes of fish, clams and the occasional whale that began dying in early April along the north-central coast, including some popular tourist beaches. Vietnamese officials have not announced the official cause of the deaths, which have affected the livelihoods of tens of thousands of families.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Phuc said his government is determined to track down the main culprits with "objectivity, honesty, prudence and urgency."

PM Phuc lmao
