Evidence from the Institute of Fiscal Studies suggests that most pensioners are better off now than they have been for years, so I don't subscribe to the 'they're all dying of hypothermia' line. The answer is it takes a certain person to do it, most celebs are rich enough, to pay an accountant to take care of their money and put it in schemes to avoid tax, but not all do it.

And therein lies the problem with today's polictics. We have no debate about what Government should provide on our collective behalfs. If we want roads, hospitals, schools, drains, border guards... we need taxes. They shouldn't be an evil they should be supporting the society we all crave.

 

 

In an ideal world this makes sense until you see what taxes are actually being spent on and then suddenly your less inclined to pay them, especially as at the moment were still paying back the sky fairies to stay afloat so everything's being cut to the bone service wise.
