Deathray 2,941 Posted March 27, 2016 100 years, and at the going down of the Sun, we will remember them. Yes, because the past 100 years have proved the Easter Rising to be resounding success.

Depends on your definition of success I suppose. Fewer deaths compared to the 100 years before, the 100 years before that, the 100 years before that, the 100 years before that etc etc, violence confined to these shores/Gibralter as opposed to North America, Australia and mainland Europe. I can understand your confusion.

torbrexbones 717 Posted April 5, 2021 I feel sorry for Saturday, all the other days over the course of the long holiday weekend have a 'special' name except Saturday. I don't get the whole easter gism anyway but why no special name?

torbrexbones 717 Posted April 5, 2021 Nothing on any of the calanders that I have but the 3 other days are named. I have never even heard it called easter Saturday and I have been around for a while.

For one thing, it's always been a popular day for weddings and it's common to hear people talk about getting married on Easter Saturday. Perhaps you are right that it's not officially named, but in common parlance that's how most people refer to it.

Commtech Sio Bibble 2,052 Posted March 31 This year, instead of gifting Easter eggs, I'll be handing out bags of gold chocolate coins and seeing which of my friends and family sell me out to the Romans. 1
