maryportfuncity 10,661 Posted June 4, 2016 I think this scrapes into qualifying obit territory. A reliable news source reporting in English, yeah. S'cuse me whilst I pull the lowest hanging peach from the nearest tree. So a plucky school janitor socks it metaphorically to the greatest of all time in this dead pool. I can't help thinking that in the world of Jeremy Corbyn all dead pooling would be this way. Hearty congratulations to Spade who should now PM me and/or post here with regard to whether he'd prefer a little dead pool relevant merchandise or to nominate a charity to benefit from a £10 donation or thereabouts in honour of celebrating his win and proving we're not all gormless sickos.

Spade_Cooley 9,550 Posted June 4, 2016 Thanks one and all. Mr Lewis is undoubtedly one of the least famous people ever to score in a dead pool, but he seemed like a top lad from everything I've read about him so hopefully he's mopping in heaven and looking after all the schoolkids up there (Samantha Smith, St Rumwold, the little girl from Poltergeist). Anyway, I would like my winnings to go to the ADHD Foundation.

RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted June 4, 2016 Obviously the race is still for 2nd and 3rd (and just generally to see how many peg it before June 21st) but I'm more interested to see if any of our 21 (now 20) are still breathing to enter Maryport's Midsummer Madness 2017. As the proud enterer of Zsa Zsa, I'd lay even odds I'll be able to use her again next year, as illogical as that statement sounds.

Hmm, yeah, we could probs do another MMMDP next year, always assuming - of course - we're still alive.

Fair point, but however you want to put it, I reckon there's a decent chance the one-legged, blind, bedridden, 99-year-old open chequebook will still be drawing breath by June 2017. Having claimed second place you can't claim anything approaching a prize, mind The kudos is enough. After everyone else had made their picks I thought they all seemed to be so much likelier than mine especially as I had her age down as two years younger than is being quoted in her obits. I picked her because I had rejected her for my Windy City team and still wanted to use the pick.
