Being the curious person I am, I think he's dead and that they don't want a health update to precede his death announcement. Well, you were wrong on the "next few hours" part, but if ya ask me there is a chance he did die yesterday and the family will wait a couple more days before announcing it, so it doesn't get lost in the press due to UK election coverage (which is probably why Leonard Cohen's death on US election eve wasn't announced until a couple days after - totally different levels of fame, Leonard and Errol, tho).
