The Dead Cow 620 Posted March 1, 2018 Dr David Martin apparently died last night
msc 18,479 Posted March 1, 2018 Subs for David Martin: The Dead Cow gets Manohar Parrikar, whose name I struggle to spell. Death Impends gets Stirling Moss.
charon 4,943 Posted March 1, 2018 Can you not retitle the thread subby as "SFA Cup style"? Just asking.....
The Dead Cow 620 Posted March 1, 2018 Hold on, his death was reported by an American right? So last night would have likely been this morning GMT and therefore qualifies as a hit, if he gets an obit, right?

So last night would have likely been this morning GMT and therefore qualifies as a hit, if he gets an obit, right? We're ahead of America, so it's AM there, so last night would be the 28th. However, IF an obit shows up saying 1st March instead, I will retroactively hand back the points based on the First of the Month rule. And if another sub is needed, I am so nicking a Hewlett Rule off Maryport for next year.

If it can't be determined whether they died this month or last presumably the sub comes into play? For The Cup does any QO have to include a date of death? Is the date of death based on country they are in or GMT?

Yes, this came up last year with Bernie Portenski (a hit for Heef) - based on country they are in, like the DDP.

The original post is from Feb 20, but the update was edited in a few hours ago. In the comments Brantly mentions that Martin passed last night. Now, I'm unsure of his definition of 'night', he may regard the few hours after midnight as night, so it's still unclear.

msc 18,479 Posted March 1, 2018 4 minutes ago, Joey Russ said: Right. However, reading the comments seem to suggest he died last Friday though... Err, no, he says his teacher is in hospice care, which leads to a whole bunch of folk going "oh didn't realise he was that ill", "prayers" and talking in past tense which is a common but really fucking annoying thing people do about folk dying (not dead) - my grandad used to get pissed off by it when he was dying. Then, TWO HOURS AGO, chap says "David died last night" and then, TODAY'S POSTS are full of sorry and RIP and the lot. But anyhow, this is why we are WAITING for further info on the case. OK. OK? Good. Cool, everyone.
