For fairness, I will go to number 12 on my list (ie Sub 1) and it is Bernard Tapie. Which YWillz can confirm for any naysayers out there.

Confirmed. ;)

An omen that Lafaye never made it out of the dressing room?

Gives me a bit of deja vu from last year when some of my opponents' great picks failed to make the starting line.

I just noticed that there are 3 rematches from last year; Death Impends/Heef, Joey/GUN and Cap Chorizo/YW.  We may get some real rivalries going.

Did the Captain beat Book on age difference?

Yes, Book equalised with Billy Graham, but Chorizo's score was with Bill Crider.

Book lost due to death of an author - oh the irony!

Just realized that apart from The Dead Cow and Sean (who would've won due to age), Rover would've beaten anyone else who played in round 1...

Subs for David Martin:

The Dead Cow gets Manohar Parrikar, whose name I struggle to spell.

Death Impends gets Stirling Moss.

Can you not retitle the thread subby as "SFA Cup style"?

Just asking.....

Hold on, his death was reported by an American right?

So last night would have likely been this morning GMT and therefore qualifies as a hit, if he gets an obit, right?

We're ahead of America, so it's AM there, so last night would be the 28th.

However, IF an obit shows up saying 1st March instead, I will retroactively hand back the points based on the First of the Month rule.

And if another sub is needed, I am so nicking a Hewlett Rule off Maryport for next year.

Which raises a  few questions for me.

If it can't be determined whether they died this month or last presumably the sub comes into play?

For The Cup does any QO have to include a date of death?

Is the date of death based on country they are in or GMT?

Sub

At the very least, it has to be obvious they didn't die in another month.

Yes, this came up last year with Bernie Portenski (a hit for Heef) - based on country they are in, like the DDP.

Hold on, the post says it’s from February 20. So it’s been over a week since he died...

Hey, you need to be in it to win it, as they say.

The original post is from Feb 20, but the update was edited in a few hours ago. In the comments Brantly mentions that Martin passed last night. Now, I'm unsure of his definition of 'night', he may regard the few hours after midnight as night, so it's still unclear.

Parrikar was one of my final 5 cut-downs.  Good pick but maybe a few weeks too soon.

Right. However, reading the comments seem to suggest he died last Friday though...

He's just been discharged from hospital, so he should be fine.

Err, no, he says his teacher is in hospice care, which leads to a whole bunch of folk going "oh didn't realise he was that ill", "prayers" and talking in past tense which is a common but really fucking annoying thing people do about folk dying (not dead) - my grandad used to get pissed off by it when he was dying. Then, TWO HOURS AGO, chap says "David died last night" and then, TODAY'S POSTS are full of sorry and RIP and the lot.

But anyhow, this is why we are WAITING for further info on the case. OK. OK? Good. Cool, everyone.
