Deathray 2,940 Posted January 5, 2019 Regards the crowdfund idea there's at least 200 particopants play the DDP. So that's a two quid each in theory? Very achieveable

A feast to famine living entertainer decides to save a few quid by tweaking the settings on his own television ariel and comes a cropper. No more unusual than the same kind of person copping it in a traffic accident because they couldn't afford someone to drive them. Seriously, life insurance premiums on low to middle-income earners in the entertainment industry are higher than those for most of us for a good reason. There's a funny couple of pages in a book by Simon Armitage (All Points North) in which he discusses the fact his life insurance premiums went up when he became a professional poet, the twist being he was a probation officer before that!

Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted January 6, 2019 FYI, everything is in the system, ready to go, and as I predicted it's collapsed at the point of running the VBScript. So the site could be up tomorrow, it could be up after ten days when I've begged everyone I know who has ever operated a PC for assistance. 6
Toast 16,129 Posted January 6, 2019 Awesome work, Spade, even if it does take a few more days

Incredible work I tend to tweak the last minute Deathrace probs when others spot them on 1 Jan but that's less than 40 teams Amazing you're good to go with the scale of this

QO posted elsewhere - slow news day I guess. He’s a nobody from like the 35th most populace US city....so a nobody. Why would he QO?? Anyway virtually everyone missed a hit for the same reason. Death Impends 7,957 Posted January 9, 2019 He did have the benefit QO-wise of being a corrupto jailbird. I think if he was a squeaky clean milquetoast he wouldn't have obited.

We've had incredible tabloid stories (ND Tiwari comes to mind). We shall see how many took the Langston plunge once DDP19 posts. Bet it's not more than 3 (theme teams aside), and that's for a known death.
Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted January 9, 2019 If I'd have been playing this year, I'd have chanced my arm on him QOing. Seems like a similar situation to... the name's gone, the education chief who was involved in exam-rigging scandal about six years ago, died of cancer early in the year. They had "news agency obit" written all over them. EDIT: Beverly La Forte-Hall. They're apparently making a film about the scandal with Michael B. Jordan. Presumably he won't be playing Ms La Forte-Hall.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted January 10, 2019 CharonsCrew reacted to this Oh I'm calling bullshit to a user called CharonsCrew. We know who it is. Though SirCreepsEntourage does have a ring to it. Maybe I'll create another account too.

Charon is the ferryman of Hades according to Greek myth, so I don't think it's impossible that two individual users have taken inspiration from that when choosing a name for a forum called deathlist.

Tbf that image is more likely to Norse, ie Odin with one of his ravens waiting. * I could of gone for the Gaelic Manannán, but handy probably knows more about him.
