I had to educate myself on Gough Whitlam and a number of other celebrities but I have assumed this was my ignorance and not their lack of significance. However I do not extend that to Wrestlers, Poker Players and Ice Hockey Players. The fact that I do not know who these are is only to my credit.

Surprise, surprise, he was a rapper. I presume she hit the floor when he shot her...

Agreed. I mean, when I started lurking on here a long time ago, I'd never heard of George Melly (a generational thing) or Anne Feeney (an obscure folky thing) yet now love both. I'm still not really sure who Shaw Taylor was, but still, its cool to be introduced to new things. On the flipside, people I assumed were widely known (Timothy West, for example) drew blank faces from others. In other words to the guest, its a small world, aye, but no need to be small minded in it.

Sorry but there is no test for: does Steve of Canada know this person? We get all sorts in here. It's a world village and a chance to stretch your mind a bit. I have a Challenge for you, write us out a list of Fifty names, (people you really know of) who you will think will die in 2015 (but you must only have one national of each country) There are over 200 countries so it's not a tall order. Anyway... Well, pray tell us, how is Brian Mulroney? Because I keep investing in him but I've yet to see any return.

Ive always liked Tutu, didn't need to resort to necklacing to make a point like Mandela. He wont get the plaudits and the arse licking that Nelson did in death but, I reckon, he is a giant of a man where Mandela was a bit of a cunt. Mandela was South Africas Bobby Sands ( albeit without dying in jail) or summat.

I can't be bothered Googling, so how long does she have to last to beat Bess Truman and Lady Bird Johnson? You can see here by sorting the first ladies by longevity, in short she has to live about another year to surpass Lady Bird Johnson and about four years to surpass Bess Truman: http://en.wikipedia....e_United_States Somewhere around 20 June 2018 Nancy tops the lot, if anyone can be arsed to adjust for leap years we could nail this exactly. I think Bess Truman's record is safe. I get the impression that Nancy is unlikely to beat Lady Bird Johnson's longevity .

Nancy Reagan recently reached two longevity milestones, in October she surpassed the lifespan of Betty Ford and became the third longest lived first lady (after Bess Truman and Lady Bird Johnson) and in early November she surpassed her husband, Ronald Reagan's lifespan of 93 years and 120 days. Also should she live past December 18th she will become the third first lady (again after Bess Truman and Lady Bird Johnson) to surpass the lifespan of the longest lived President of the United States, Gerald Ford. Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford and Betty Ford each died at age 93 and Nancy Reagan is currently 93 years old.

You like posting in this thread more than BG likes bumping "Deathlist 2014" Still good point though, although there's a few errors there in the murky depths of those old pages. You probably shouldn't spend too long poking around in those dusty old things you'll give yourself chronic hackingcoughitis or summat. The reason I looked at those old DL versions was because I wanted to see which celebs have been picked most times. So far, those with 10+ appearences are... Clive Dunn: 16 Queen Mother: 14 Ronald Reagan: 14 Ronnie Biggs: 13 Bob Hope: 13 Kirk Douglas: 12 Eli Wallach: 12 Pope John Paul: 12 Fidel Castro: 11 Michael Foot: 11 Katharine Hepburn: 11 Barbara Cartland: 11 Kurt Waldheim: 11 Jake Lamotta: 10 General Pinochet: 10 John Mills: 10 Alistair Cooke: 10 Don Bradman: 10 And yes, I appear to post a lot in this thread. Sorry, I'll see to it that I tone it down a bit in the future.
