It's a phrase from a hymn. The Queen used it in a speech once, so they are quoting her.

I don't know how many of you saw the Oscars telecast, but I also thought that Francis Ford Coppola looked like he has declined a bit. He's 82 now. It seems to me that his face looks more gaunt than it used to, and his voice was a bit raspy as well. Perhaps one to keep an eye on.

The BBC can't seem to win at this. On a day like today the tone will need to be respectful and dignified and I admit it can sometimes feel a little too forced but there are so many vultures waiting to pounce on any lack of respect There is a place for a serious look at the place the Royal Family occupies in our society and constitution but this is not it. However, when they do approach it in a serious journalistic style such as the recent Amol Rajan documentry about Prince William and Prince Harry everyone gets all upset This is an important point for all people who are pushing for constitutional reform. A rational debate needs to start as soon as possible because the circus following the Queen's death will drown out all those voices

Your posting was close enough, time-wise, that I didn't bother with the Clive Dunn head usually reserved for duplicated entries.

Not the full story, though - she'd had a massive heart attack the year before, was subject of press rumours, and was reassuring friends at the Oscars that she was "on the mend" iirc.

Quite interesting looking at the reactions. Most of the UK-based members seem to have clocked that it was dark humour... others not so much.

Mario Gigante (wiki), New York mobster and member of the Genovese crime family, dead at 98. Brother of the far more notable Vincent "The Chin" Gigante (wiki, 1928–2005). To my knowledge, he was the oldest notable member of any of the U.S. crime families. Only one of the Gigante brothers left alive – Louis Gigante (wiki), who was a Catholic priest and stayed out of organised crime but is alleged to have sexually abused young boys. I can't find an age for him anywhere.

Johnny Grier, the NFL's first black referee, has died at the age of 74. From what I remember, I thought he was actually a pretty good official, and I think most of them are terrible. RIP.
