2 pointsMuhammad, the prophet of the Muslim faith, died on this day 1390 years ago, aged 62. This is probably the best image I'm allowed to show. The reason why Muslims get angry at visual depictions of Muhammad is that they believe that they should be worshipping Allah (God) more, and worship of the prophet is shunned. The Quran, however, does not explicitly forbid pictures, but considering the extremist reactions to 21st-century depictions, I'm not taking any chances. Anyways, here's the story of Islam: As an adult, Muhammad would isolate himself in a cave to pray for several days at a time. During one of these prayer sessions in 610, Muhammad was visited by the archangel Gabriel, who gave him a revelation. Muhammad then began to preach to his polytheistic peers that there is only one god, and complete devotion to Him was the right way of life. Muhammad began to attract followers/companions, but they were persecuted by the polytheists, and they fled from Mecca to Medina in 622, which is considered the beginning of the Islamic calendar. Muhammad gained more followers there, and amassed a holy army. In 629, they returned to Mecca with little resistance, and destroyed sculptures of the polytheistic deities in the Kaaba- the place of worship. During the annual Hajj, millions of devout Muslims circle this place as an act of devotion to Allah. One specific "companion" of Muhammad I would like to bring light to was his pet cat. Her name was Muezza, and there is a story regarding her: one day, Muhammad was putting his prayer clothes on, only to find Muezza sleeping on his robe's sleeve. Rather than awakening her, Muhammad cut the sleeve off, leaving her undisturbed.

2 pointsBeen brought to my attention that Bob Lockyer, essentially head of dance programming at the BBC for forty or so years has died aged 80: https://royalphilharmonicsociety.org.uk/rps_today/news/a-tribute-to-bob-lockyer Partner of the late Sir John Drummond until his death in 2006, Lockyer essentially championed dance on the BBC, particularly with an emphasis on contemporary dance and worked with some of the best choreographers and the Arts Council to keep dance in the public eye. He was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours List at the end of 2020. Now for some reason he's listed on IMDB as Bob Lockyear, but I cannot find any reference to him being named thus anywhere else. He is in fact fully named as Robert Lockyer-Nibbs here: https://www.britishtheatreguide.info/news/dance-honours-12763 He has a better resume on the BFI website: https://www2.bfi.org.uk/films-tv-people/4ce2ba0d0197e. IMDB does not have a date of birth, but I've been doing some digging. He had a birthday bash for his 70th on 13 April 2012: https://dancetabs.com/2012/04/bob-lockyers-birthday-bash-london/ and he was definitely born in April 1942 by this Companies House entry: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/JYd5gwRBsKa0miz8BLlXXICREiQ/appointments which ties in with this: https://www.lostdogdance.co.uk/whoweare/boblockyer Think from everything he died on or around 5 June 2022, nothing certainly on Twitter before then. Just in case someone wanted to let IMDB know...

1 pointLet's have an update... Not the biggest four weeks in deadpooling, but a surprising amount of surprising unique hits. Jack Higgins, the crime writer, was a unique hit for the Daredevil. Already a bit ago, only now in the score. Teresa Berganza, the opera singer, was a unique hit for Great Uncle Bulgaria, well done. As mentioned by Willz, Walter Abish is a unique hit for Doulton. Destined for the DDP list of the lost, he gets the New York Times obit here. Boris Pahor was a unique hit for Kenny. 13 points are better than zero. Roger Angell, the eminent baseball writer is a unique hit for Torva Messor, well done as well! Even Lester Piggott was a unique hit, this time for theoldlady, who sadly, I haven't seen in quite a while... keltos31 gets another unique hit with former Ukranian president Leonid Krawchuk. A couple of names who are probably not going to get an obit: Dominique Marcas, Josef Abrham, Ciriaco De Mita. keltos31 suffers two non-obits in one update. Our QO sources don't really like those continental names. One score removal: Unfortunately, I think the last update gave JoeyRuss points for Natty Wailer? I have unchecked that box, so, sorry... The resulting scoreboard is this, and I hope this is everything. Next time, I'll have a more exhaustive check. And I kind of feel that the next update will have some bigger names. 1 pointMarco Luzzago, Lieutenant of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta since November 2020 dead at 72: Grand Commander Ruy Gonçalo do Valle Peixoto de Villas Boas, 82, now apparently the interim Lieutenant (again). Former lieutenant/grand commander Ludwig Hoffmann-Rumerstein is still alive at 85 and apparently I mentioned him the last time I reported the death of a Order of Malta "head of state"/"monarch"

1 pointThe slow hit rate of May was compensated for by losing one of the year's most popular picks. Superhero inksmith George Perez was tied with Gary Burgess and Jimmy Carter as the third most popular HPDP pick, with 16 selections. The hits are as follows: Funeralopolis, gcreptile, Thatcher, and Torva Messor draw up 40 points. BabyBlue, CaptainChorizo, drol, and Salmon Mousse 35. Banana and Perhaps 30. JoeMoneypenny and msc 25. MariNisia 20. Valhalla One 10. and Book and chilean way 25 sub points. Also dead this past month was Holocaust survivor and Slovene-language author Boris Pahor. Only six feet blunder placed him on the main team, and consequentially gains 70 points (50 base + 20 bonus). Annami lands her first sub for 25 points, while Perhaps lands his second for 50. The popular Perez hit means a lot of gains on the latest scoreboard, if not much change to the actual dynamic. Perhaps emerges the biggest winner thanks to also having Pahor. 1. 1 pointSo, saw this posted online by one of the leading lights of ASSAP (Association for the Scientific Study of Anamalous Phenomena) - not pleasant reading but highly interesting and it puts the current criticism of the Texas police into context: I don't often talk about this (you can find it on my timeline if you search though) but some years ago I ploughed through a research project on school shootings. I read the reports, crunched the data and what I found was even sadder than I expected. Because it is not discussed much and there is never a good time to raise it, I'm going to mention it now despite the raw tragedy. The average school shooting seems to last 5 to 8 minutes. Your chance of survival is high if you are more than seven minutes from the entrance. Any kind of locked door or barricade seems to help. School shooters appear to grow despondent, sick of killing and realise what they have done very quickly. It is an anticlimax. From that point on they only kill if fired upon, and then tend to target the police, aiming at suicide by cop, or shoot themselves, perhaps after an hour. After 10 minutes they shoot others sporadically if at all; usually ignoring victims. This pattern is despite all the psychological variables consistent across cultures and four decades. It appears predictable. You can test the observation by reading the reports of timelines yourself: even Wikipedia will show you the data you need. I've never seen anyone else propose it but given it seems valid I defend cops who don't rush in I guess: after the first 10 minutes you probably want to contain the shooter and assuming no hostages evacuate safely the other kids. Problem is the wounded bleeding out. However what if you go straight in? It's not tried often. However at Sandy Hook officers arrived in 5 minutes, heard a shot and 4 minutes later charged in. It was over: the shot they had heard was the shooter killing himself. It might save lives but first responders are rarely SWAT or HRT trained. So I guess my conclusion was that these things happen too fast for police response to effect the outcome: which is no excuse for the stories we are hearing from Texas. If you won't ban guns then locked doors and schools that are as secure as prisons might be your answer. None of it though does the slightest thing to bring back more innocent lives lost, or make any of it less tragic
