First, I fought the great 70-71 Slade war against Book. Now rages the 78-79 war over The Police with Death Impends. Never a dull moment here!

I didn't mean to put any pressure on but there may be a delay in the New Year in getting the teams up whilst I verify them All teams submitted by the deadline will get to play the game It normally takes about 18 months or so anyway so a little bit of delay at the beginning shouldn't be too much of a problem

Oh if only, tv and the media in general is more awash than ever these days with insipid nonentities full of their own importance, all the things on tv VLS used to rail against have seemingly got a thousand times worse; phoney virtue signalling, contempt for the viewers’ intelligence, fascist box-ticking (to quote Mike Leigh) no wonder he gave up the ghost

Indian former first-class cricketer Rusi Cooper is 100 either yesterday or today (some sources say he was born on the 14th, some say the 15th). Article from a few days ago.

I would’ve posted in this in the poetry thread but the brief is ‘crap’ poetry. This poem isn’t crap. And, as nurses begin their perfectly justified and easily avoidable strike today, it’s one to keep in mind.

Elisa Montés, the stupendous Spanish film, stage and television actress, the sister of Spanish actresses Emma Penella and Terele Pávez, who took her artistic surname from an opera of her grandfather, Manuel Penella, is 88 today. Her father, the politician Ramón Ruiz Alonso, was involved in the arrest and execution of the excellent Spanish playwright and poet Federico García Lorca. In the 1960s and 1970s, Elisa Montés was especially popular for her starring roles in numerous spaghetti westerns. Edna O'Brien, the distinguished Irish memoirist, novelist, playwright, poet and short-story writer, one of the most talented authors of her generation, who is well-known for her exceptional literary career, is 92 today.

I'm working on it, but I do need a bit more time. Too many pools with the same starting date. Thanks for hosting and running this interesting competition, @Bibliogryphon. Good luck to everyone.

I will be submitting a team. Excited to join my first Scavenger Hunt! Not familiar with the categories so it's slow going, will be relatively soon.

New Rolling Stone interview. Pays tribute to Angelo Badalamenti. Just guessing, but doesn't strike me as gravely ill. Tough one to topple clearly!

He's my MP. Can confirm. There is a reason local residents call him Absent Adam. Not had anything through the post though about elections coming up (I vote by post).

It was the hospital. Keep up now. Connie is probably a decent bet from what I've heard - if he doesn't make the 50 next year a three-way race with Juan Carlos and Harald of Norway might be on.
