5 pointsEllis Brandon (101) dead. The article says 'oldest living Engelandvaarder' which suggests there must be others still alive. But not clear who they might be.

4 pointsI'm sick of this. Source? SOURCE? Didn't think so, you thick cunt. Get this into the noggin: you can't judge public opinion if you don't go out into the world. The Daily Mail and your crank family are the only places you get ideas from, so fuck off to Facebook because that tripe isn't wanted here.

2 pointsThe worst kind of politician. Ran for mayor of Houston but didn’t get through the primary so she kept running for congress. Diagnosed and refused to resign because she’s going to beat it. That worked out.

1 pointThe Dictionary Deadpool Returns Welcome back to the Dictionary Deadpool (The Squeakquel), a few things have been tweaked since last time so make sure to read the rules. Each participant must pick a 10 letter word reasonably valid in the Oxford English Dictionary and then for each letter of the word choose a ‘celebrity’ who’s first or last name matches with the corresponding letter (similar to the ABC deadpool). If your chosen word includes the same letter more than once, please choose different ‘celebrities' for each. Example - Strawberry Simon Cowell Terry Gilliam Ryan Reynolds Alan Alda William Shatner Barlow, Thelma Ewards, Huw Roberts, Eric Roberts, Julia Yuri Oganessian Scoring - Each death will be scored based on the value of the letter in the English language Scrabble so in the example above Thelma Barlow would be worth 3 points as B is worth 3 in Scrabble. There's no difference in points whether first or last name is used, however Alliterative Names, such as Alan Alda, will score double points. Unique picks are worth an extra point. Unique & Alliterative picks are worth triple points. General Rules - Entries close at midday (BST) August 4th and must be sent by private message. Usual deadpooling rules apply (have to be reasonably famous, no death row picks etc…). Make sure to clarify who you’ve chosen if necessary or else the first google result for that name will be used. No need to pick subs, if one of your picks dies in the next week I'll PM you to ask for a replacement. I’m not particularly fussed about obituaries just as long as there’s enough proof to say they’re dead, so feel free to pick as many famous Mongolian sheep farmers as you want. Posting in the thread that your chosen celebrity has died is greatly encouraged, however at the end of the game I will check to ensure no-one has been missed from the scoreboard. In the case of a tie, the team with the most unique picks wins, if it’s still a tie after that the winners can either choose to share the victory or agree to meet in real life and fight it out. Duplicate words are not allowed so if 2 players submit teams with the same word, it’ll be first come first serve and the second player will have to change their entry. A bonus point will be awarded at the start of the game to the player who, in my opinion, has chosen the most interesting word. The game will end one year after starting (August 4th 2025). Thank you for playing.

1 pointI am your host, @Evil Grimace. As per protocol, I will not enter a team. I'm looking forward to running the 2024 game and welcome entries of the creator, former game runners, and past champs and players. I am using @paddyfool's rules verbatim as I've used them before, they work well and I know the system. Please submit a list of names from this year's deathlist to predict who on the list is actually going to die this year. Points will be allocated as follows: +1 per death correctly predicted -1 per death incorrectly predicted +4 if the number of deaths you predict matches the actual number of deaths, i.e. the number of names in your list matches the actual number of deaths +2 if you only miss the correct total number of deaths by 1 -2 if you miss the total number of deaths by more than 5 +1 bonus for a "unique" correct prediction (predicted by no other punter here) +1 bonus if you pick the bookie's favourite (single most popular guess in this contest) and they are a hit. -1 penalty if you pick the bookie's favourite and they are a miss. A further +1 bonus for every 3rd correctly predicted death (+1 on 3rd, 6th, 9th etc) You may if you wish select one entry as a joker. We are changing the rules for the Joker this year: you get an additional +2 if correct, and an additional -2 if incorrect; no more multiplication. In the event of a tie on points, the dead-lock (see what I did there) will be broken by the following: 1) Whichever team had the most hits 2) If unbroken by 1, whichever team was closest in their guess of predicted deaths for the year 3) If unbroken by 1 and 2, whichever team was submitted first. Entries in by January 10th on/before 23:59, please, either by pm or by posting here. Any deaths before then will still score for any lists entered at least 24 hours before the death and will still count towards the total deaths for the year. Regarding entries, if you give them to me in the order they are given on the main page, eg 1. Dick van Dyke (Joker), 4. Alan Greenspan, etc. it greatly helps with selection entry. And please mark your joker clearly too! Good luck.
