10 pointsSo yeah, you're not done with me as DDP co-host yet. No one offered to take up the mantle, but doing slimmer obits has made things considerably easier and pretty much "TMIB redux"-proofed the front page. In fact I don't think there will be any changes for next year, rule or personnel wise, outside of acknowledging that The Times is a .com website now rather than .co.uk. The DDP 2025 thread and launch will be coming over the weekend.

3 pointsSome happy news I want to share with all of you: about two months ago, my wife and I became parents for the first time. Our son is in good health and growing well, just as my wife has recovered well from giving birth. Our daily lives have changed massively, but we're lucky enough to have lots of loved ones who are there for us in these changing times. We're both completely in love with our boy, and it's great to see him learn new things.

2 pointsThere are many many more I guess. To cite a notable one, Ivanne Trebbi (wiki), born 1928 and also a deputy in the 80s.

1 pointWelcome to the first Deathlist-competition dedicated to Nobel laureates: The Nobel Prize Dead Pool. As always, the nomination period opens on December 1st, 2024 (00:00 EST) and ends on January 31st, 2025 (23:59) EST. The rules are still easy: Pick one living Nobel laureate by each category (Physics, Chemistry, Medicine/Physiology/Peace/Literature and Economic Sciences), who you think will die during the following next twelve months. This will make six nominated people. Send your list between December 1st and January 31st! My remaining rule: No laureate can be chosen twice, so check who was picked by other deadpoolers! The list of teams published below will help you! Further rules: 1. In case, one of your laureates dies, replace him/her by a person from the same category. This will give you the chance to score twice in a category. 2. I will be the last to choose my picks – to avoid discrepancies for the other contestants! Every laureate who dies in December or January will be excluded automatically and should be replaced in case of being chosen. People, who accepted the award on behalf of someone or represent an organization are excluded from the contest, the 2025 laureates cannot be chosen since they are unknown until October! The Nobel Prize Dead Pool will start from February 1st, 2025, the day the nomination period for new laureates ends. The last day to score a hit will be January 31st, 2026! All main sources will be accepted as well as the official Nobel Prize website www.nobelprize.org. (The deaths will be mentioned there, so no lost hits to expect!) Since not so many Nobel laureates die during a year - 2017, 2019 and 2020 it had been 9 dead laureates per year, 2018 there were 18, in 2022 seven (So do not expect a rushing contest!) – the scoring will honor every hit separately. So good luck and enjoy the contest.

1 pointBased on @The Old Crem original game back in 2022. The game is simple. Pick 20 celebrities who will have a child in either 2025 or 2026. Rules: 1. Teams have to be sent in by 31/12/2024. Please send teams to me via PM and do not post it on the thread until after deadline to avoid copycats. 2. You can pick either the mother or father of the child, but the parent has to be a celebrity. 3. You score points once the celebrity, celebrity's partner, surrogate gives birth or the adoption of a baby under 8 weeks old is announced. 4. The qualifying source is either a newspaper report or a post on verified social media account belonging to the Celeb or their partner. 4. Celebrity is defined by the pick having a Wikipedia page that existed before 1st December 2024. 5. You can't pick both likely parents of the same child in the event that both mother and father count as celebrities. 6. If there is any public doubt as to the identity of the father of the child, then the pick will be 'lost'. 7. Picks must be legal (i.e. the parent must be over the age of consent in their home country) 8. No pregnancy that has been officially announced or reported in a Q/O source as a strong rumour is allowed. 9. Any pregnancy that is announced between now and the deadline will not be eligible for points and you can chose to then withdraw that celebrity and replace them (but can also keep them in case their have a second birth in 2025). 10. Each team is allowed one joker who can gain double points. 11. If pregnancy is announced and there is a misscarriage or still birth then player gets half points (10 points turns into 5 etc). 12. Player will get certificate of participation if no points by end of the year. Certificate of frustration if all your picks are football players, meaning it's harder to find updates due to transfer news etc. Age of parent at time of birth: Mother: 17-30: 10 points 31-35: 15 points 36-40: 20 points 41-50: 40 points 51+: 100 points Father: 17-30: 10 points 31-40: 15 points 41-50: 20 points 51-60: 40 points 61-70: 70 points 71+: 100 points Let the predicting commence.

1 pointDon't understand the hate for Reet Petite. I have fond memories of it. At the time I was working on a promotion, mundane office job stuffing envelopes and the like while listening to music on a Walkman. Reet Petite was a favourite as it continually zipped back and forth from ear to ear, just a really fun track to listen to in that medium.
