The Old Crem 3,606 Posted May 6, 2022 They will be so many cases in the decades ahead. The attempts to limit heading training in professional football are being totally ignored. Clubs are openly pro timing how they flouting the rules and are still making heading seem glamorous. All that will happen is one day English football will ban heading but it won’t be a worldwide ban anytime soon. There is already concern that all the ban on children will achieve in the short term is a skills gap that will lead to adult footballers increasing heading practice to catch up on footballers who learnt as kids and thus causing even more dementia cases.
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted May 9, 2022 Probably worth posting this in here: the PFA are asking footballers who believe they may be suffering from signs of dementia, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed, to come forward as they seek more information on the link between heading and dementia. Might see a few more names come forward from this. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61376170

msc 18,476 Posted May 26, 2022 Steve Smith, former Huddersfield captain and manager, is on @Octopus of Odstock list on Page 1. His family have mentioned he's now in the late stages of dementia, having originally announced he was ill in 2013. Sounds like his physical health collapsed during lockdown.

The Old Crem 3,606 Posted July 18, 2022 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62208661 Maybe we will see a reduction in 70 years then through its hard to see FIFA banning it from the game so those kids will end having to learn heading anyway.

Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted July 27, 2022 On 28/11/2020 at 20:37, Octopus of Odstock said: Recent reports suggest a minimum of 375 former footballers have dementia or some form of degenerative brain deisease, but other people like Tony Cascarino suspect it is a lot more according to reports. For privacy reasons, not all 375 are going to reveal but with so many footballers now coming public and with the hapless Gordon Taylor now gone at the PFA, many more may now reveal their plight. I thought it would be a good idea to record those living for research purposes. I know there are much more, but I can add them on in due course as of course this can be amended.
