And one of them has died. For the sake of fuck.

Who was it?  I didn't see anyone today that seemed 'findable', maybe Innis?  It's not like you're revealing anything if the person is dead.

My team is in too. 5 fallers in the week before starting gates.

For YW

Gary Housteau (previously mentioned)

Leonid Kuravlev

Les Shapiro (TQR pick I suspect)

Jeff Innis (shamelessly stolen when Les Shapiro died)

Steve Sturgis - Mr Wellington photographer - even went to trouble of checking this one would be marginally an acceptable pick.

Be happy with 3 in following month.

Scrub that - be happy with one more point than Engineer.

Sir Cunto v. theoldlady

Sir Creep's 'Month to Month Tenants' (Feb 2022) list is IN.
Good luck to @theoldlady and everyone else.

I honestly couldn't find a single guaranteed hit, so I will be sad when the list comes out and 15 teams have a name that was invisible to me. If I get 1 hit I'll be happy; hope it's my Joker.

I was going to suggest that if someone who gets knocked out in round 1 would be so kind as to volunteer to accept Spade Cooley's entry in their Inbox, so that he isn't totally handicapped - say 2 or 3 days before the month starts.  He shouldn't have to turn in a list a week or so ahead of time.  I did this for someone a couple years back when I got knocked out, seeing as I no longer had skin in the game.  Just a thought.

My team is now in. I don't feel too confident, but we'll see how it goes.

Am happy to do this if required. Not that I plan to get knocked out of course!

4.5 minutes left and three teams still not in. Some of you round 1-ers may be getting a bye at this rate...

AND WE'RE CLOSED. Sean, Bentrovato and John Key did not submit a team in time, unless I'm blind, so they are eliminated. YorkshireBanker, JoeyRuss and The Old Crem get byes to round 2.

A bit annoying that I spent a few hours over the past weekend on a cup round that isn’t going to happen. Ah well, I guess I can compare my scores with other teams to see where I’m at…

We'll see if my gamble on a double Frank Field (from both sides of the pond) will pay off. Good luck to everyone. And thank you  @Spade_Cooley for running this and accepting all my picks since some were a bit obscure.

Shouldn’t the names submitted by the three teams now on a bye be deleted as superfluous?  This would have an effect on solo hits etc.

Anyway, thanks for such quick updates, Spade.

Sorry to see that the world’s first person receiving a genetically-modified pig heart didn’t clear the bar.  It’s a fair cop.

I think having seen @Pop_Zeus team, their entrance music should be Justified And Ancient by The KLF.

There shall be no shame in going out to a bunch of supercentenarians/centenarians.

I'm already considering my exit music...:P

Very interesting. Only one pick in common (Frank Field) and I’ve jokered him and GOO hasn’t, so that sets us apart as well.

Didn’t really want the extremely fascinating Mangeshkar in my team; she was an ill-considered sub after Les Shapiro died prematurely. Other than that, I think I’ve certainly had some weaker teams in the past. If I score less than 9 I’ll be miffed.

As for my illustrious opponent…I didn’t know all that many of the names and was staggered upon Googling them to find they’re all about 93 and quiet. Derek Martin has been on my radar and could be a shout. I know Pointer off of Sisters isn’t doing too well. And Apple very nearly made it to my list. All very plausible.

I predict a draw.

I'm not actively deadpooling (other than PdF in DDP) so I'd be happy to receive Spade's entry at the suitable time if this is deemed acceptable by everyone.

The problem is the host has to have their team in before anyone else sends their team in. I used to send mine to Cat but that is no longer possible, alas.

I take it you mean  Apfel  not Apple!:D

Thank you for describing me as illustrious!

I must confess I don't  know most of the names or much about them in your team so will have to indulge in some googling later!

But at a quick glance I think we have both made a decent effort.

You  said in an earlier post about a gay fight or catfish with us competing against each other

Do you anticipate that it might go something like this  very bitchy catfight between  Alexis and Krystal in Dynasty  especially in the event of a draw?!:P

I won't speculate too much on which one of us is  Joan Collins (Alexis) or Linda Evans (Krystal)!!

It will be interesting to see how this goes. We have only Frank Field as common, and I think it could go either way. I will definitely be kicking myself if Bob Barker and/or Jimmy Carter finally kick the bucket this month. It's totally possible, but I decided to take a risk and hope they won't.
