I don't get why the right like Truss so much she doesn't strike me as  that right wing especially compared to many of the other candidates.

She was a Lib Dem not that long ago. But they have been promoting her as Thatcher 2.0. As if she possesses even 1% of the political nous of Mrs T. I think what is becoming clear is that this is an absolute free-for-all. Everyone's backing a different horse, everyone's trying to widen their appeal to all wings of the party and no conservative seems to have any idea what they actually want their new leader to promise.

She used to be in the Lib Dems at Uni. Her views change with the wind.

Mordaunt is now the favourite with many of the pundits because they think Rishi will make the final two against her  but will have all the press against him so she wins by default. But will be she able to hold the red wall seats tacking right on the economy while not being a natural culture war warrior whose interventions in that area feel careerist. .

I saw him interviewed, I think, by Sophy Ridge and he came across as somebody with even less charisma than IDS.

Human mogadon, infact.

Never have I more wanted to see a massacre make the headlines.  The Tory party is a cesspit of evil and they should all be drowned in a pit of their own slurry.

Or make them all eat their money until they choke to death on it.

Leadership hopefuls need to get 20 MPs backing them by the end of today to progress. So far, that’s Sunak, Tugend, Mordaunt and Zahawi.

FFS - I'd rather have Boris back.

She is an incompetent lightweight. Just watch her cheese speech or more recently her interview about whether or not our troops should travel to Ukraine independently. Then if you want to understand how bad that interview was watch one with Rory Stewart on the same day about the same subject. Obviously it's his field and not hers but unfortunately she was Foreign Secretary at the time.

Home Secretary I reckon

Raab is backing Sunak so he will probably stay on as Deputy PM.

Chancellor and Foreign Secretary might have to wait until there are later contest drop outs that need scooping up.

I also think Sunak would want an ultra loyal pair of hands at the treasury not a failed rival

"I am prepared to give everything I have in service to our nation" - Rishi Sunak

All his money!  Excellent.  That should solve some problems.   Yeah, right.

Patel drops out. Won’t endorse just yet but rumoured to be leaning towards Truss.

Last time I checked (so don’t quote me on this as it might have changed), Truss was 1 away and both Badenoch and Cunt were 6 away.

Accusations  Sunaks team didn't like the questions Sky News  Beth Rigby asked and cut her microphone.  Could he have peaked too early?

So sometime today  a headline about Braverman dropping out will certainly have emerged? @Toast will be delighted!

Badenoch on 17 now 3 away. Will likely pick up some of the Patel endorsements now.
