American songwriter Bob Feldman died aged 83. He notably wrote "My Boyfriend Is Back".

I don’t know if this the proper thread, is there a songwriter topic or something ?

No idea why he has a Wiki page.

Sonny Seiler, a Savannah based former trial attorney who seemed to have owned the line of English bulldog UGA mascots known as Uga reportedly dead:

Appeared in a couple of movies, including one where he played the judge in a fictionalised version of a real life trial in which he was the defending attorney.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, both the book and the film, were quite popular in this part of the world in the 90s and early 2000s. Many of the people dramatized became low-level famous because of them.

There's IMDB famous and Wiki notable. Must be a cultural thing I'm not seeing. :D

Local nobody but popular talking point Faye Fantarrow reportedly dead: https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/faye-fantarrow-sunderland-singer-dies-27632108

Also a DDP pick?

It's a low bar isn't it when you haven't really done anything on your own merit but recorded with Dave Stewart. (Reflected fame).

I did ask about her last year but was told "msc, you can do better", basically!

In my defence, the BBC made her sound far more famous than she turned out to be, but if others picked her I can understand that and her being allowed - the press made her out to be a bigger deal last year.

That said, RIP. A sad story all round, and no age.

Everybody can do better. Well done for not picking her!

Whoever she was, she really had no notability whatsoever in my humble opinion. Precisely the type of pick which shouldn't get the DDP treatment. :2guns:

August 26th.... just in case anyone played her for ABC...

I didn't because I thought she seemed on the mend.

Possibly my B-team is DDP team of the month? Possibly beaten by Banana's B-team. This is the year of the B-teams and second choices...

Edit: Ah, Banana's B-team has her, too. Shades of the year my B-team did better than my main team. Maybe both of us might end up regretting we should have divided the names differently, me for a 2nd time.

Never really considered her too much for the main squad as I don’t recall the severity of her cancer and she seemed to being well. And like you I even thought she was on the mend judging by me dropping her from DbyN.

Mau Mau uprising field marshal Muthoni Kirima is still alive at 92. And she is so good she has two wiki pages: Muthoni Kirima and Muthoni wa Kirima. One page cites the other, so this must be the work of some authentic mental retard.

Muthoni Kirima reportedly dead: https://www.citizen.digital/news/president-william-ruto-mourns-freedom-fighter-muthoni-wa-kirima-n326741

Leaves Muthoni Mathenge, widow(?) of MIA Mau Mau commander Stanley Mathenge and hater of Queen Elizabeth II, probably the last "notable" figure of the Mau Mau Uprising. She's around 103 and has been extremely frail for the last few years.

@Bibliogryphon mentioned Roger Ordish in Ideas etc for 2023.

He reportedly died (yesterday?) so won't make 2024 @msc

Already at the "1000% cert obit" but surely dying right after Parky pretty much makes that a slam dunk.

Could have been a DDP contender (or pick) had he lasted another 4 months and change.

Took a wee bit longer than expected but the Times weighed in for Roger Ordish: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/roger-ordish-obituary-czq67hq6q

But not picked.

Frank Lynch, who opened Glasgow's iconic Apollo Theatre 50 years ago reportedly dead: https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/glasgow-apollo-theatre-owner-frank-27676606

The Apollo had a conveniently ignominious end  - https://www.heraldscotland.com/life_style/arts_ents/23777143.bulldozers-fire-last-days-glasgow-apollo/

"On October 25, 1988, the derelict Apollo theatre on Renfield Street was devastated by fire. The alarm had been raised at 4am and fire crews from all over the city converged on the site. At the height of the fire, eight pumps, four turntable appliances and 60 firefighters were involved.

"Eleven months before the blaze, in September 1987, bulldozers had demolished the front and rear of the building, leaving only the huge central portion intact, after building control inspectors had deemed parts of the Apollo to be unsafe.

"At that time in September 1987, the building's owners, Ainsley Developments, were in receivership, and it was the Receiver who called in Burnthills Demolition.

A few weeks prior to the demolition, city councillors had given planning permission to a London-based film and cinema company, Maybox, which wanted to build an £8.5m, 14-screen cinema on the site. Maybox had reportedly bought the property for £600,000."
