I’ve voted. Only people outside were for the Galloway supporting local independent in the by - election. Security officers came in and asked the polling clerk if it been busy and she said it was. Through it wasn’t any more busier than it was in May for the London Mayoral and Assembly elections where the turnout was 31% in my area.

Sunak said his favourite meal was "sandwiches".

A spokesman for E-coli said "Well, we tried to get him, but it's up to the electorate now".

One of the polling stations being used for the exit poll is Bristol central according to a labour campaigner in the seat.

Not too surprising in the circumstances.

Would be willing to bet Richmond and Northallerton is too

The Exit Poll methodology is based upon changes in vote share from previous elections. Entirely possible they will have Richmond already in the sample, but they try and keep the individual polling stations the same from election to election. I don't think they will add more polling stations specifically because it's Sunak's constituency.

Let's be fair to Camilla Tominey, the Prime Minature still has another six hours to make that comeback. You never know innit.

Considering I work with NHS workers. I know a lot of them a voting Conservative (my whole reception team in fact). My manager (who hates Angela Rayner), would have voted Reform but they are not on the ballot here.

Where I live, it's all about voting Labour to keep out Reform rather than the Tories. Electoral Calculus puts Labour on a 77% chance of taking this seat, Reform on 22% and the sitting Tory MP on 1%. Almost perfectly aligns with the placards I've been seeing.

Charles Kennedy drank himself to death within a few weeks of losing his seat in 2015.

Admittedly, he put a lot of practice in before then. ;)

While we're in this pre-exit poll lull, just a couple of thoughts from re-watching the 1997 coverage recently:

  • There was discussion about how little and vague the Labour manifesto was, and how this would make it difficult to govern as they didn't have a mandate to do very much.
  • There was also (which surprised me) discussion of how there wasn't a great deal of enthusiasm about Labour winning, more about the Tories losing (sound familiar?).
  • A recognition that voters had voted tactically in greater numbers than ever before, to really punish the Tories.
  • Discussions about how the splits in the Tory Party had damaged the brand, with one side claiming they were right that Major was leading them to defeat and the other claiming it was these naysayers that had made the defeat so bad.

There were probably more parallels but it was a couple of weeks ago now and I can't remember it all quite so vividly. Doesn't feel so different after all, hoping for a similar result tonight and a similar outcome over the next 4-5 years.
