Kiribati, one of my favourite countries. The "ti" is pronounced "ss", they have towns named London, Paris, Poland and Banana, and they have 3 time zones dividing a population the size of Colchester.

Way to remember Kiribati pronunciation is:

Who sang at Charles and Diana’s wedding?

Kiri (ya) bass.

That might be a Scottish thing though.

Iwona Śledzińska-Katarasińska, unremarkable Polish politician, dead at unremarkable 82, seems to be the first reported death of 2024.

Edit: Whoops, forgot she was on the list. I shouldn't have posted here.

Is it 2024, and is she dead? Yes, and yes. I don't see a problem.

David Soul dead according to multiple news sources - sorry my bad, just saw the Hollywood thread already has this.

For any young uns blisfully unaware of a big irony - the guy's alcohol problems once over were central to him - briefly - being a wife-beater, this happened around the time his singles were charting in the UK. One single - peaking at number two - was called "Let's Have a Quiet Night In"

Looks like popular movie website Aveleyman is dead.

The home page has been replaced with a big sign that simply reads "GAME OVER".

A pity. The best website on the web for putting an actor's face to a name.
