Bryan Johnson (and other anti-aging people)

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to create this thread for a while... We've all heard of Bryan Johnson, the millionaire who is doing everything to reverse his aging:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_Johnson

Well, he was on a book tour in India and experienced throat and eye burn there:

https://in.mashable.com/culture/86052/age-reversing-millionaire-flags-serious-health-situation-in-mumbai-my-throat-and-eyes-burn

He seems destined to die of something rather stupid, or even get cancer from all the supplements he takes.

Still, I've been interested in him and the anti-agers in general and wonder if there's something to it or not. There's actually a ranking of all of them, i.e. who rejuvenates the most (Bryan Johnson is currently 5th):

https://www.rejuvenationolympics.com/

So I'd like to have place to document their failures (or successes). A very long-term thread.

The irony of Bryan Johnson is he's trying not to age, but in the process has made himself look older than his actual age of 47. Looked great in 2015, looks like a freak now.

The key to ageing well is don't fuck about with your face and body too much, drink alcohol moderately, eat sensibly, don't smoke, exercise and drink tons of water. Honestly, that's all there is to it. Having good genes helps too ofc but that's outside your control.

I agree that his looks don't seem to show that it's working. He'll say that the medical tests show something different.

To be fair anyone who goes to India will likely end up with burning in their eyes and throat because of all the pollution...

If he wants to live forever then going to India is probably not the best way of achieving it.

India did lose 3 million souls to the virus

Any thoughts btw, why China, although having a similar population, coped a lot better, only lost about 5 thousand of their people?

Creative accounting.

In around 2017 I remember watching a video about a woman who was the head of some organisation that believes ageing is a preventable disease. All I remember is that she had a blonde bob and and an interesting dress sense (don't all these folk). She was American or Australian and hosted talks. Notably, she was 80 at the time, so would be in her late 80s now.

In 2013 noted "psychic" Sylvia Browne announced that the spirits had told her she would live into her nineties, the latest in several predictions about her extreme longevity. A few months later she died from a heart attack aged 77.

Some good examples of people having unrealistic expectations:

• Greg Norman will live to 110 with his golf orgasms.

• Loretta Matheis, some minor name sketch artist claimed she'll retire at 100 and live to 110 when she was 83 in 2017. Still alive? God knows.

• Dalai Lama/Tenzin Gyatso, determined to make 110 in 2023. Aren't you eternal? Anyways, that was a downgrade from 2019, when he said he'll live to 113.

• Juan Ponce Enrile hopes to reach 110. For a drol immortal he has a suprisingly realistic approach on mortality.

• Gladys D'Souza, an Indian woman from Mangaluru, claimed she'll live to 110 at 100. She died a year later.

• Ketut Liyer, Bali medicine man claimed many times that he would live to 110. Anyways, that didn't happen as he died back in 2016 at around 102.

• Wilbur Glenn Voliva - Was sure he'd live to 120 due to his diet of buttermilk and brazilian nuts. Died at 72.

• Berlusconi playfully boasted about living to 120 in 2011...

• Prajedes Morales from Albuquerque claims he'll live to 130.

• Aleksandr Bogomolets - Stalin's longevity guru. He claimed his serum would've helped people to live to 140+, but he died at 65.

• Aussie woman Margharita Vitanza, 105, said she'll live to 150 back in 2016. Died a bit before her 106th.

• Keith Richards has also claimed he'll make it to 150, back in 2007. He does now have a better chance to get there than that Aussie woman.

This is one fascinating dude. Really the whole history of Zion, Illinois is a hell of a story. Still a pretty strange place all these years later.

And William Roache. In 2010, he stated he had done coronation Street for 50 years and would do it for another 50 years

@arghton heard the story of British super centenarian Reg Dean? Actually a fairly fascinating old guy as he'd been a war hero and then had a lengthy career in the Church of England. During WW2 he saved an old mystic's life in Mumbai and was given a life extending drink which he took despite being sceptical.

Decades go on, Reg stays alive but puts it down to vegetarian life style and exercise. Retires, still lives. Reaches 100, 101, 105...still very healthy. Moves into assisted living in his late 100s, still in great health for his advanced age. Starts to get frail aged 109 but reaches 110 and publicly told the press "maybe I was wrong and that elixir was accurate and I could live to 120!"

The second he publicly recanted his scepticism, his health took a rapid decline and he died weeks later!

Bryan Johnson has decided, for some reason, to post a comparison of his erectile strength compared to that of his son. Up to you if you think this has any applicable deadpooling value:

Yes it should as it shows how a man is desperate to prove he is young and not on death's door.

No joke, you could bet on the number of his nightly erections on the Polymarket site.

I wonder how that conversation went?

"Hey, son, want to do a comparison of our health stats for a cool post!"

"Sure, dad, what was you thinking?"

"Basically, I want to know about your penis."

His son is totally on board with everything he does. Going to grow up and be equally as weird as him.

If you want a serious laugh there’s a really creepy photoshoot of 3 generations of them (Bryan, his dad, and his son) cuddling, posing etc.

I think they live in their own little world.

I'll stick to the science and medical evidence on this.  There is a clear link between cardiovascular health and erectile dysfunction.  For the details, see the link below.

Erectile Dysfunction Is a Hallmark of Cardiovascular Disease: Unavoidable Matter of Fact or Opportunity to Improve Men’s Health?

To quote from the abstract, "Erectile dysfunction (ED) is an early manifestation of cardiovascular (CV) disease."  It suggests he's using it to monitor for early signs of any cardiovascular disease.  I won't go as far to say he has the cardiac health or penile function of a 19 year old, but it is amusing to think the reverse is true.
