Is Eileen more frailer than Judi?

You mean "Is Eileen more frail than Judi?"

I'm not so sure. I would say Judi looks more frail, but then again Judi is more active in terms of number of roles compared to Eileen.

Eileen Atkins has apparently spent a good chunk of the last decade keeping an eye on Jean Marshs well being. She's always made sure she was there when needed for her frail best friend (who is now outliving most of their other friends).

Jean Marsh (b 1934) was divorced from Jon Pertwee (d 1996) an amazing 65 years ago.

She was more of a theatre actress - knighthoods and damehood’s traditionally went to the theatre actors earlier and at a higher rate than the ones who did mainly films and TV.

Fiona Shaw is brutally blunt on this point when defending her appearance in Three Men and a Little Lady.

"They don't care what we do (in the theatre) so I can happily take their money to pay for what I really want to do"

Shocking to think one of Britain’s finest on stage and screen is merely filed away in character actors, whilst we have threads for imitation cricketer Bob Uecker and professional gobshite Katie Hopkins.

She was 95, that was plenty of time for you to start a thread!

Evening Standard  Theatre Award Winners - Best Actress

1961       Vanessa Redgrave

1965       Eileen Atkins

1969       Rosemary Harris

1973       Janet Suzmann

1974       Claire Bloom

1977       Alison Steadman

1978       Kate Nelligan

1980       Judy Dench/Frances de la Tour

1986       Julia McKenzie

1988       Lindsay Duncan

Updated for the death of Joan Plowright. To be honest almost any of these would be a good punt. Probably not Alison Steadman or Lindsay Duncan but any of the rest

Would not have been a lot to chit chat about for Joan I guess.

Bob Uecker - well, give the Americans something I guess, though it was nearly three years with a post on his thread. Hopkins is good value on occasion.

Nobody's really talking about many threads until they need to, but there's likely something will pop up. Joan was just relaxing into her twilight. I'm not aware of her being in Hollyoaks, or having a cocaine habit, or indeed starring on Celeb Big Brother, so a run of 3 linked deaths is still awaited!

There's going to be at least 2 pages of chat on here about her.

To settle this argument quickly can a mod not just move the relevant posts to her own thread? She seems like a name we may refer to retrospectively, especially with consideration to her step-son, who is a current pick.

Who the fuck is Uecker?

He is somewhat a celb here in the states.. Big Baseball announcer and had some small roles in movies and t.v shows. Though I will say I can agree I did not see him worthy of a thread on his own compared to someone like Plowright,  He could have easily been chatted about in the baseball thread.

I had her as a hit in a few pools along with my shadow list.  But she is a complete miss for me for the DDP.. One of my teams is Disney actors, and I completely forgot and missed her as being in 101 Dalmations the live movie with Glenn Close.

I'll create a thread for her when I get in from work.

Lady is correct because Laurence had a knighthood as well as a peerage.

She isn’t Rt Hon though?

FFS, just looked at her Wiki again and someone has edited the Rt. Hon. out, but taken the Lady away too! Calling her Baroness Olivier now.

He was Baron Olivier, so I suppose she was Baroness as well as Lady Olivier through his knighthood, plus a Dame in her own right.

Well when you only have 50 spots to fill there are bound to be a lot of  sick and 90+ year old famous people not on the list.

Kim Novak does not seem to be sick, yet she is on the list. Plowright would have been an easy hit.

Plowright an easy hit?  Not really.  This is my 4th year having her on my list before she became a hit. The year has just begun as well.  Who says Novak at 91 years of age cannot be a hit this year.  I simply get sick of people complaining when a popular person dies and is not a hit for DL.. Seems everyone just complains about the misses and not give credit to them for their hits.

What’s the point of opening a thread for someone dead ?
+ who’s her stepson that Ullitzer mentioned earlier ?

Now, is she a Lady or a Baroness or something else?
