Clu Gulagher and James Karen are both alive and much older than Calfa.

Child actor Billy Chapin dies at 72. Headline says his big role was in 'The Night of the Hunter' but I've never heard of that film.

Then you are missing out. Night of the Hunter is one of the all time great films, and Robert Mitchum's finest role, as a serial killer chasing the children of an executed man to find his hidden loot.

The kid - Chapin - is so annoying in it, you can't help but root for Mitchum, but it is a wonderful piece of cinema.

Even if you've never seen Night of the Hunter (a legit 10/10 imho), you're at least familiar with one of its tropes, which has been used pretty much everywhere since in the past 60 years.

I've seen that movie. Rev. Harry Powell was a nasty character and I think he could be considered the archetype for Max Cady of Cape Fear. Mitchum was a natural born villain.

Just like the REAL Indians' owner, she lost big in 2016!

Margaret Whitton, the actress perhaps best known for portraying Rachel Phelps, the Las Vegas showgirl turned owner of the Cleveland Indians, in the two Major League movies, has died. She was 67.

Alan Thicke dead.

Died like a good Canadian. Heart attack while playing ice hockey with his son.

Edited to say according to TMZ he was playing tennis. Although I've seen reports that he was playing ice hockey.

Composed the theme to Diff'rent Strokes, I see. For that, he should have been mentioned on here before. Gawd bless 'im for that.

Was on my shortlist last year too.

Always difficult to get it just right with ALS, though. Chris Woodhead was on my list twice, dropped him and he promptly snuffed it. Joost has been on my list the last two years...

Agreed. I'm if the belief if they have the funds they can get proper breathing apparatuses and continue on a while (see Brigance and Gleason), but if they're just an author or summat who depends on fading royalties or constant work, they're a good get.

The previous 5 Sag Lifetime Achievement Winners are still breathing. And in fact only 1 person(Aubrey Hepburn) in the last 35 years died within a year of winning that award.

This forum is great if you want some research doing just toss a stray comment to the fact dogs and you get statistics and everything. Slightly disappointed you didn't list them :-)

Not including her was the worst decision of the committee, in my opinion. While I did not predict pneunomia, there had to be a successor for Zsa Zsa Gabor in the "flamboyant, elderly woman" department.

Does Honor Blackman not count?

I don't know, are there stories of her flamboyance I don't know about? (I know them of Tippi Hedren, for example.)
