Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 crashes on its way to Nairobi with 157 people on board.

Another brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 bites the dust in very similar circumstances to Lion Air Flight 610 last October.

Radar playback seems to show fluctuations in vertical speed just after take-off for both aircraft.

Some are already pointing the finger at Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS).

There'll be a few people at Boeing this morning running around like blue-arsed flies.

Awful outcome. But  what about the list of nationalities on the flight. I have been on many a flight but this little Ethiopian flight covers the world. Was there a huge conference on something:

He said they included 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, nine Ethiopians, eight Italians, eight Chinese, eight Americans, seven Britons, seven French citizens, six Egyptians, five Dutch citizens, four Indians and four people from Slovakia.

Three Austrians, three Swedes, three Russians, two Moroccans, two Spaniards, two Poles and two Israelis were also on the flight.

There was also one passenger each from Belgium, Indonesia, Somalia, Norway, Serbia, Togo, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda and Yemen.

It's believed many people were on their way to a United Nations conference.

All nations, who had at least one of their citizens on board, are legally entitled to participate in the crash investigation.

Horrible news.

I've seen tweets that for those who travel to Africa a lot on business Ethiopian Airlines has an excellent reputation and is very popular with those travelers.

Light aircraft down on birkdale golf course in merseyside.

Last three small aircraft crashes I can remember have resulted in 'known' people's deaths.Leicester city owner, one of russia's richest women and emilino sala. Golf courses are indeed and playground for the rich and famous.

A former BBC radio presenter, 40, has died after being hit by a train just months after giving birth to her second child in what her family believe was a "tragic accident".

She was on a military charter from Guantanamo Bay to Jacksonville Naval Air Station.

She overran the runway by about a thousand feet and ended up in the river.

Weather wasn't good; thunderstorm overhead with 0.63 inches (16 mm) of rain falling in the 23 minutes prior to landing. The runway isn't grooved so there were puddles.. She landed with a tailwind rather than into the wind.

There are reports of service families' pets and possibly working dogs in the hold - below the waterline.  :(

It turns out 41 died and 37 survived.

It looks like the plane was struck by lightning (which shouldn't be a problem in itself) and returned to Moscow.

She appears to have suffered a hard landing followed by a bounce and then a second hard landing sending the rear undercarriage into the fuel tanks.

R.I.P.

A plane crash in a remote mountain region in northern Mexico claimed the lives of all 13 people on board, including a family of five that were flying back from watching a boxing match in Las Vegas, authorities and local media said on Monday.

The wreckage of the plane that took off from Las Vegas on Sunday was found via aerial surveillance in the northern municipality of Ocampo, the government of Coahuila state said in a statement.  The surnames of the three crew and 10 passengers published by the Coahuila government were all Hispanic. The victims were between 19 and 57 years old, according to a version of the passenger list published in Mexican media.

Bergman was thrown from the taxi, authorities said. Cabbie Berkant Ramadan Ahmed, 42, also was killed.

Bergman, who also served as Envestnet’s chairman, founded the company in 1999.

And then there’s this, from the parking lot of Sir Creep’s Post Office!!  No really!

A small plane headed to the LSU game in Atlanta crashed in the parking lot of the post office on Pinhook Road Saturday morning. Five of the six people on board the plane were killed. It happened about a mile from the Lafayette Regional Airport near the intersection of Feu Follet and Verot school Road, just after 9:00 a.m.

(SirC left town and began driving to New Mexico, coincidentally, at ‘just after 9:00 a.m.’ and found out about this only from friends talking about it on FB).

Going to double post in another thread so don’t get y’all’s undies in a bunch.
