I had him on my Draft Shadowlist for next year.

One particular thing about him made me like him (I was never a big Alf Garnett fan). When Anthony Hopkins said that the thing he liked about being successful was that he didn't have to play King Lear every night. Warren Mitchell said for me the thing about being successful was that he could play King Lear every night.

When Warren did play King Lear it was at the Hackney Empire and the production had Michael Cashman in the company. I am hoping in true East End tradition that he was playing the Earl of Kent.

Sad to learn that Robin Stewart who played Mike Abbott in Bless This House, died this morning at age 69. http://www.robin-stewart.com/

you know you're getting old when the actors who played the 'children' in old sitcoms /dramas start dying off

It only leaves Sally Geeson, aged 65 as the sole survivor from the cast of this 70's comedy. Now she was a stunner when I was a teenager. She is married to William G Stewart of Fifteen to One quiz fame and producer.

FTFY.

Thanks for the update YoungWills. I omitted the word "was" when mentioning Geesons marriage to Stewart. Blame it on proof reader having the day off.

Pamela Cundell has died aged 95 according to this forum. Can't see a mention anywhere else though.

http://www.mausoleumclubforum.org.uk/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=11&sid=0f5dbeb375a660c2e981d4e27ce68543

She left £1.25 million in her will including "£5,000 to the Concert Artistes Association – she was a former president – to have ‘a jolly lunch with good wine’ on the anniversary of her death for the next two years."

Aside: has anyone noticed recently just how bad the BBC are at reporting the deaths of their own stars/presenters? Gerald Sim, Pamela Cundell and now Tom Coyne all without so much as a mention. Yet they will repeat the shows and have talking heads talking about the days of yore....never really noticed until I started on here.

To be fair it is not just the BBC.

Jeffrey Segal is missing everywhere.

Jeffrey Segal's death (undated) mentioned in the Summer Edition of Equity Magazine (this may have been mentioned before) but I have a link to it now: https://www.equity.org.uk/documents/equity-magazine-summer-2015/ Page 16, In Memoriam.

Heard from a pretty reliable source that Gerald Sim, occasionally discussed in this thread, died last Sunday and the funeral was yesterday. I'm not sure if the family have requested no press coverage or if his star had fell that far that nobody could be bothered to knock up 250 words for the BBC online, but I'm pretty sure you can cross him off 2015.

If true, could be to get the family mourning out of the way for Sheila Sim's sake before the press announce it? With her health, and losing her husband and brother in 3 months, I doubt she'll be about in twelve months time.

Dead is where she'll be: https://www.thestage.co.uk/news/2016/sheila-sim-widow-of-richard-attenborough-dies-at-93/

Sheila Sim dead at 93 - sure she's DDP fodder too. Check your deadpools too. Awaiting QO.

Edit: Mirror obliges: http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/richard-attenboroughs-widow-sheila-sim-7213809

Confusingly this has brought me points in both the Deathrace and The Hare's Deadpool.

Surprised how well Patricia Routledge looks in the trailer for the Channel 4 programme on Beatrix Potter. Having been out of the limelight for several years and now being in her late 80s I would have expected her to look frailer. Also clearly still has her marbles.

talking of Patricia Routledge, Fans of Drop the Dead Donkey will be sad to hear that the actor David Swift , who played Henry Davenport in every episode of the series has died at 85. He was the brother of Clive Swift who was Hyacinth Buckets husband on Keeping up Appearances http://david.swift.muchloved.com/

The guy who does the tube announcements gets national mourning but you can't find a single newspaper article about David Swift!

That is the kind of thing that would make Henry blow his top.

Well the programme was poking fun at journalists and you know how pompous and sensitive they are...like Henry Davenport!

He probably had the best character in that show, and there was some strong competition elsewhere. It's not even on the useless Channel 4 "iplayer" either.
