Ideas and possibilities for 2007

Recommended Posts

Thanks, TF & MBA. For those of you familiar with the man, I'm sure you'll agree he's aged.

Also, very quick side-note:

Osgood himself died at a funeral. Bobby Tambling, another Chelsea legend, nearly did the same today. He collapsed with heart problems just before he was due to attend Osgood's funeral. Now, THAT would have been bizarre if he had died a la Osgood.

Sort of a long shot, but Valentina Tereshkova is starting to get up there in years.

She's still fairly active, and no health issues that I've been able to dreg up, but one never knows.

We must have a psychic link. I was just about to post her name. Anyway here are some other cosmonauts who might be worth considering.

Konstantin Feoktistov

Valeri Shatalov

Or how about some astronauts

John Glenn (born 1921. I think he's been considered in the past)

Alan Bean

Michael Collins

Jim Lovell

Wally Schirra

Tommy Docherty, football manager, at Peter Osgood's funeral today - I can't post the image for some reason but if you go to BBC Sport & click on Osggods' funeral pics, you'll find it.

Now near 80, overweight & has always liked a drink & a smoke & doesn't look brilliant...

Good call, I'm always slightly surprised he's still alive!

Francisco Ayala turns 100 tomorrow (or if you live in the UK, today I suppose). I thought perhaps at first he might not be famous enough, but apparenetely he's rather well known in Spain and has been a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature on more than one occassion...

Not the first time she's been mentioned I know but all this Wilson stuff on telly reminds me that Lady Falkbender must be coming close now. She's been spinning around in a wheelchair for years. I had not realised that she was supposed to have shagged Wilson According to Joe Haines' diaries she described it as "unsatisfactory" .

Well, I saw the Wilson documentary on Tuesday night. That was filmed in 2002 & she looked & sounded awful, a true dinosaur bag of olde. But then so did Michael Foot - Jim Callaghan looked great, so you just don't know.

Only thing is she is "only" 74 this year. If she was 10 years older she'd be in my DDP 20 for 07.

Three for 2007:

Doug Ellis, Aston Villa chairman (he's famous enough in my opinion...infamous in my eyes...as he'll definetely get a mention on the back pages)

George Cole...After seeing him on that docu about Minder I'm still not convinced that he hasn't died all ready & risen from the grave.

And as my rank outsider, Clint Eastwood.

No reason & I hope he doesn't as he's one of my heroes, but I just gotta feeling, you know?

Two good choices BHB especially Ellis, diagnosed with prostrate cancer in 2002.

Mind you Desmond Tutu was diagnosed in 1996,still going strong.

I posted a reply about these two Nazi officials in the thread, but I thought they were good choices to consider:

Erich Priebke - (b. 1913) organized the largest massacre in Italy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Priebke

Paul Schafer - (b. 1921) organized a nazi retreat in Chile. He was arrested and is still in custody over there.

Or preferably a weak candidate. ;) Anyone know anything about his health? I saw him in a stage play a couple of years ago & he seemed OK then.

Re: Nobel Prize winner's in Physics. I've got Lamb and Townes on my DDP list, and Ramsey is basically the same age as Townes. Aage is on my Hartlepool and I've been keeping an eye on Mossbauer. The rest fail either the sickness/age test or the famousness test in my opinion.

Belfast born actor James Ellis, has suffered a stroke, four years ago he also had a massive heart attack.

I think with these ongoing health problems he'd be a good future pick.

He'll be 92 in September, but if he's recently doing push-ups in that manner, it goes to show that he's as fit as a fiddle and not about to keel over anytime soon. Possibly one to watch in the next few years though.
