I think I've vaguely heard of him. What's the Zambian equivalent of "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL"?

Just watched the Match of the Day 50th anniversary show...

-Unsurprisingly, the Jimmy Hill interviews were all re-used from 10 years ago.

-Des Lynam looked and sounded really frail.

And 75 year old Barry Davies is back on board to celebrate 50 years, so...he's still in good shape, then.

That's because he's suffering from senile dementia in a nursing home. We'l l never see him again I'm afraid

That's a bit of a cruel gag there but he'll just have to take it on the chin.

Didn't actually think Lynam looked that bad - aged, yes, but not particularly ill. Hell, compared to Gazza he looked positively youthful.

BBC rowing commentator Dan Topolski. He was also coach of the Oxford team for 15 Boat Races.

Jimmy Hill dead. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35141430

Big Strike for the DDP.

Damn.

Seriously I'd have had FIVE hits in the first three weeks or less if we'd have started mid-Nov.

there'll be no such luck in January all the good ones are dying.

Points for me. You may as well all just give up now, I've made a space on the mantel for the trophy.

Most 2012 teams would have had Hitchens, Smoking Joe, Philip Gould and a few others if they hadn't all uncharitably died in the last 7 or so weeks of 2011!

Jimmy Hill was on my list, his health made his pick in 2015 a good one, though by this point I thought he might carry over. Proper legend in the British sports field. RIP to him.

What's the difference between this and Presenters? Not rhetorical.

DDT started this thread with three names: Harry Carpenter, David Coleman and Bill Maclaren. All of them were sports commentators.

Mitch Fenner, BBC gymnastics commentator, has died according to Louis Smith: https://twitter.com/louissmith1989/status/749711919003660288

Guess that means even more Matt Baker in Rio. Joy.

BBC Obit now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/gymnastics/36704311

Aye, the multi-talented and generally genial Matt Baker.

C'mon, nobody in the media is that nice...does anyone know owt by way of rumours about him?
