Came off Facebook about 10 years ago because I was bored of wading through so much shit to get to something remotely interesting. Stopped Twitter a year ago because some cunt ruined it. Now, WhatsApp does me social and Threads does me media. That's all one needs.

I don't like facebook (or Zuck). But I know no other way to connect with folks I've lost touch with over the years.

A couple of people I'm glad to know would probably have been lost forever without it.

I use a chrome extension to cut some of the crap, it's partially effective.

Also, for some reason our local pool league insists on results being posted/amalgamated on there, so I'd have to have it just for that.

I have remained on Twitter and have mostly not found it too toxic. It is nowhere near as good as it used to be but it has certain functionality that I like.

I do Facebook to keep in touch with my friends ‘down south’ .  I have a few deathlist friends on it.  Twitter ( or X) not so much. The last time I twatted, was probably last year. WhatsApp just to be in with a group af friends.

Social media might be on the way out.

BTW, there’s a Facebook thread somewhere here.

I use Facebook exclusively for Pokemon Go, it's really the only place that have active local groups. Apart from that the only time I've used it recently is for deadpooling purposes. For keeping in touch with friends it's Instagram or Twitter mainly.

I only go on Facebook to talk with friends on messenger. I also use it for local facebook groups.

Just had a frustrating shop in Marks and Spencers. I swear their women's work trousers sizing has changed in the last 5 years. I had to do an SOS shop there this evening because a zip had broken while at work and had nothing for tomorrow.

Anyway. There is no way I am a size 20 and refused to buy anything in that size, managed to find one size 18 stretch that will get me going for the time being. Apparently the internet has been having the same issues. It doesn't help i'm 5'1 and so shopping for trousers in general is a nightmare anyway.

I've long been of the opinion that the number on a label inside a garment is meaningless.  There doesn't seem to be any consistency now.

I try them on and buy the one that fits and looks best, I couldn't give a flying fuck what it says on the label.

There has definitely been a shift in sizing over the years too, I can remember when the smallest available womens size was 10.

And there were a few brands where we knew that we would always need a size down as they were generously cut.

I've lost four stone since last autumn (diet and exercise changes, trying to be healthier) and have gone down a trouser size and can safely agree I can't make head not tail of the various shops sizes. It's a matter of educated guessing and working from there

I didn't return my brown M&S staff trousers when I left. Best pair of trousers I own. They fit like a glove and will last forever. When my waist expands I might get them tailored for real.

Elon Musk - in a further attempt to drive people off the platform formerly known as Twitter, he's now made "Lights Out" mode the default setting. Starts up in Lights out every time I restart. I hate it now more than ever.

Twitter/X embedded links taking 5 or more seconds to expand here. (actually it might only be 2, but I'm an impatient bastard)

You try to read an entry in a thread that doesnt have a link whether or not you're waiting for the content of the links to show up - then what you're reading jumps down the page or even off the bottom of it when you're halfway through reading it because some link above just expanded.

Rinse and repeat as one above that expands.

No idea if this is the same on a phone (either o/s), never read this site on a phone.

My pc isn't slow, nor is my 500mb/s wired internet.

 Grrrrr .

I famously only browse the forums on mobile. My biggest gripe with Twitter is that I have the app, but I can't open the app from my browser. Stupid.

As much as I hate Reddit forcing me to log in, at least it reroutes me to my account in the app. When someone here posts an interesting Tweet that I want to like or read the comments of, I have to copy the handle, open the Twitter app, paste the handle, search for a keyword in the tweet, and scroll until I find it.

"Can't you just enter your username and password in the browser every time?" Sure, but why would I do that when I HAVE THE OFFICIAL APP!!!

Why would any celebrity bother to go on Dermot O'Leary's Radio 2 show. He is the most appalling interviewer.  I am no fan of Steve Coogan but I did have some sympathy this morning when Dermot asked him if he wanted to act in straight roles. He very gently reminded Dermot of his BAFTA award.

Radio 2 should sack him immediately and give someone better the job

I think the key point here is "wanted to act".

I've found Coogan an insufferable presence for many years, supposedly making us "laugh" at the same character for 30 years. Yes, he has done other things, but he's a second rate impressionist with little performance skills. As usual, funny when he started but he's been conning the public for too long.

Try as I may, I can't bring myself to dislike O'Leary.

Just my opinion, I don't bother with radio much anyway.

I don't agree, I think he's a very good actor.  The first role I saw him in was in 24 Hour Party People as Tony Wilson.

I was very dubious ("Steve Coogan?  WTF?") but although he bears no resemblance at all to Tony Wilson, he inhabited the character so well that I very quickly forgot it was Steve Coogan.

I'm by no means a Coogan fan; years ago i bought the I'm Alan P/KMKY box set. I still haven't watched them all, because its too much of the same thing. I've seen him in straight roles (Philomena, Shepherds and Butchers to name 2) but no matter the part, I kept on expecting to shout "Aha" (see also David Jason).

Meantime, I sometimes drop by GB News for a giggle. See what the deluded are saying. Seemingly populated by people who have grown too old to be casino croupiers or be on Babestation.

Anyhow, some dame called Dawn Neesom has been talking about the Duke of Westminster's wedding and before and after a break called him formerly Britain's most "illegible bachelor".

Stupid, simple people involved in a vanity project.
