gcreptile 10,978 Posted September 12, 2023 Well, fuck me sideways... Eric Lamaze WAS actually faking his cancer: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/racing/article-12508085/Olympic-champion-showjumper-FAKED-cancer-court-case-lawyer.html Supposedly, he's still sick, but there IS a court case. 1
Perhaps 1,423 Posted September 12, 2023 I fell for this fucker and plonked him on my main DDP team. The media seem to have backed off Kate Keltie, but it did seem at one point there were sussing her 'miracious' recovery.

nantonian2013 50 Posted November 3, 2023 Jessica Harrington, who had cancer earlier in the year, out in America for the Breeders Cup meeting. Wouldn't have her on my shortlist for 2024.
nantonian2013 50 Posted November 9, 2023 Trainer David Brown has passed away at 79. He had a rather unconventional route into training, going to night school whilst a member of stable staff and setting up a company. Didn't have vast numbers towards the end, although I believe that was a conscious choice as much as anything. Had a decent sprint handicapper a few years back called Four Wheel Drive (who ended up in Bahrain, not to be confused with an American racehorse of the same name). nantonian2013 50 Posted November 17, 2023 Protectionist, the 2014 Melbourne Cup winner has died at 13. Hasn't been massively supported at stud, despite being based in his native Germany whose industry values stamina far more than British and Irish breeders. His training career was before my time, but seemed he actually did better in the mid 2000s after a blip at the end of the 1990s. There would be definite theme team potential if someone knew the precise composition of various Suffolk nursing homes, albeit most would be Hares obits rather than DDP material. nantonian2013 50 Posted December 15, 2023 2 stallion deaths over the past week Speightstown at 25 and Dandy Man at 20. Speightstown will continue to have a decent legacy in the states, as he's got several sons at stud.
Spade_Cooley 9,536 Posted January 3 Mick Wheble, who was banned from everything racecourse in Britain last year for sending threatening tweets to a variety of jockeys and trainers, died on December 30th aged 75. What that Sun article doesn't mention is that he also had an MBE for services to greyhound racing and wrote two children's books. Odd character.
