Matthew Spezza, the brother of former long-time NHLer Jason Spezza, has died. Matthew Spezza overdosed this past weekend. Jason Spezza played nearly 1,250 games between the 2002-03 and 2021-22 seasons. He's currently the assistant general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

How's he doing? I know he has a laundry list of health issues (AIDS and diabeetus), has been forced to sell his house because of financial issues due to the SAG strike, and has been relatively recently divorced.

 

I haven't really kept up on what he's been doing in the past decade since Kinky Boots, although personally I first learned of him from Miss Saigon (an autographed poster of the OBC I picked up at a flea market pre-pandemic has his signature in the middle of the helicopter not far from Jonathan Pryce's).

 

Doesn't seem like his mother was very healthy for quite some time from what he was saying on Instagram.
