He represented the national side at three Copa America tournaments in 1987, 1989 and 1995 and during his club career, he played for Barcelona [Not that one] for ten years until 1993 before leaving for Argentine side Independiente. After leaving Independientehe signed for LDU Portoviejo before returning to Barcelona then moving on again to another big Ecuadorian side in Emelec, he then joined Chileans Palestino before finishing his playing career at lower-league sides ESPOLI and Santa Rita.
