Race's condition is not as bad as I made it seem in December.

Funny that.

Kamala is 66, with both legs amputated below the knee due to complications of high blood pressure and diabetes, a condition he has had since 1992, but not accepting dialysis treatment.

Smith Hart is doing the old Dont Die Like Me public campaign in Calgary for prostate cancer.

Oh, irony! I was watching that right now. A dead cert, but will he obit?

I'd be stunned if they didn't, between the more famous siblings (though Smith's not exactly unknown in his own right, wrestling wise), the family history of tragedies being a good press story, and Smith's own... eccentric life story making for a good obit.

Yes, he's Bret's big brother, a decent wrestler and all. I can see a Dailymail article lamenting yet another "big wrestling death", but nothing more.

Tagged for size.

Perhaps a year was being optimistic. Plus, he's making an effort of traveling to his brothers grave and family house now while he can...

Looks a lot better than John Wetton though.

Had to Google Smith Hart - never even heard of him.

Bob Backlund

I called George the Animal steel yesterday. His wife answered the phone. I asked if Mr. Steel was there. She said he was not at home.
Then she said who are you. I told her my name and she said that he my not come home this time. As tears slowly came to my eyes, I told her that everyone loved GEORGE THE ANIMAL STEEL. HOPE

George Steele (b 1937) may be familiar to non-wrestling fans as he appeared in the Tim Burton film Ed Wood. He's been in poor health for years.

Well, that's not really a surprise. Unless you count it as a surprise she lasted this long.

Incidentally, the word going around wrestling forums about George "the Animal" Steel is hospice care, so he's probably not got long. Snuka and a Guerrero already, with a Hart, Koloff (ex-World Champ), Steel and possibly Vader circling the drain - sounds like the Reapers got a bumper year planned for pro-wrestling.

As long as Mantaur is safe, I guess.

Surprise to me because I thought she was already dead. Turns out I was thinking of Marianna Komlos.

Steele is a DDP pick. He'll be needing to piggy back on all the stories about Bass - though as a HoF'er, he should get one.
