Edge of Darkness. The series not the film (barf). you can get it on a site called Daily Motion or something like that with a brief search. Unmissable even 35 years on. But you've presumably seen it. I can't imagine anyone liking chernobyl and not liking it but  you never know.

I finally got around to watching Edge Of Darkness.  I'd bought the DVD on Ebay for a couple of quid and it's been resting in a drawer for months.

Excellent stuff, and despite being nearly 40 years old, surprisingly topical.

Never mind Bond, Jedburgh is the reason I'd die on the "Joe Don Baker's DLy" hill.

"He died, peacefully in his sleep, of bullet wounds."

It's just excellent TV and has aged considerably well imo.

"Get me Pendleton!"

Best BBC drama serial ever IMHO.

"He's rumoured to be the state executioner"

"What's he doing up here?"

"It could be you old boy, the minister didn't take 'too' kindly to that speech of yours"

"If this turns out to have an Irish connection, I shall retire"

I could quote from it all day and all night too, but better not eh?

There are plot holes and a couple of factual errors (plutonium bullets, cough) if you watch it a few times and look closely enough but rarely has anything ever been done better. And no matter your thoughts on EC one way or the other, the soundtrack is epic.

I watched that years ago on a recommendation from here (search reveals it was 15 years ago, recommendation from @themaninblack). Agreed, excellent,  and still no desire (despite it being on streaming for yonks) to see the Mel Gibson version.

I had just finished my binge of series 1 of "Upstart Crow" (2016) on my library streaming service Kanopy when I learned about "Ludwig" (2024), so I binge that online.

Last night I finished Blake's 7. Having been a Doctor Who fan since I was young I had always heard great things about it, but even my highest expectations were blown out of the water. That ending left me standing up, yelling at my TV. It's hard to pick a favourite character but it would probably be Vila, with Jenna and Avon coming not so far behind. The only main character who left me feeling nothing was Soolin. Personally I preferred series 1 Travis to series 2. The only thing I knew going in was that Blake left after series 2 and I was fully expecting the series to decline after that, but I found the third series to be the best. Hard to pick a favourite episode, but I think season 3 episode 2 'Powerplay' would probably take it for me.

Anyone else been watching Charlotte In Sunderland?

I've actually been seeing a lot of stuff on BBC 3 and 4 especially when I'm up late I don't know if anyone else bother with them channels, but they only air between 7pm and 4am roughly

Been watching Strictly Come Dancing and can't rid myself that there is something wrong with Tess Daly. She looks really unhappy.

She's married to Vernon Kay.

Got a free week of Apple TV, so I've been catching up with Slow Horses.

I'm on my last month of yet another free 3 months, and have been saving the latest Slow Horses until I can binge it in one sitting.

I've tried various other serials on Apple but haven't really been drawn in by any. Ted Lasso was OK, but way overhyped.

I've found a few good movies on there though (and some really shit ones too, it has to be said).

I got knocked back when i tried to get another free trial (that was a Vodafone offer) but Apple TV was free for everyone last weekend so I took advantage.

Much to my surprise I was then offered another week free, so we'll see what happens.   I've only got S4 of Slow Horses to go, but there's another one coming out this year.

I'll have to see if I can switch my mobile supplier again!

The Traitors UK is excellent TV right now. Minah is playing a good game and the faithfuls are imploding on each other.

Literally just thought to come on here as assumed it must be being talked about and I'm loving it again! Wasn't sure after episode one but by episode 3 and Armani's banishment I was all in again! The last couple of days have been superb, so many twists and turns. Minah is my winner as it stands, she is playing a blinder!

Linda must have the absolute most ridiculous luck on her side. She was nearly gone in the first round table off some fairly decent evidence, and even in spite of her BAFTA-winning performances ("who the hell is not going to come back?"), she's just... getting mentioned once or twice. Insane luck for her, and I can see her going ridiculously far and at the last minute tripping up.

Minah is falling incredibly under the radar, but mind, so did Amanda...

Linda's time is up soon I think. A few were on the "Lisa or Linda" bandwagon and Lisa's reveal she's a priest may tip the pendulum back towards Linda. As Jake said, he's not got much else to go with right now. I do worry that Minah may suddenly be targeted but I think she's smart enough to argue her corner and she is playing spectacularly well - her manipulation of the Tyler situation today was so subtle it was beautiful to watch. Plus, unlike Amanda, she's not faced with as big a schemer as Wilf as her fellow traitor. At least, not yet...

I think some of them might well suspect her but know she is probably a weak traitor who they don’t want replaced by a more competent recruitment.

It’s still very good but there are some really dislikable faithfuls this year who are just not nice to watch rather than entertaining and will hopefully get murdered or banished soon.

Surely it’s not going to go similar to last year with Dan being blindly loyal to Minah all series only to end up being shafted in the final by her. That would be fascinating but a bit boring.

I'm a little late to this one, as I've only just caught up on last night's episode, but my take is that Linda's days are numbered even though nobody is openly going for her very much at the moment, Minah is playing an absolute blinder, but, as was rightly pointed out earlier, that could all change in a single round table, and can someone please get rid of Joe.

Well it won't now!!! Another incredible episode tonight! It's amazing it can be so dramatic and not be scripted. (I do know it's cleverly edited). Going in to tonight's roundtable, we had Anna announcing she was unsuccessfully recruited, Minah waiting to drop Dan's name in it for the gunking, people gunning for Linda again despite her thinking she was in the clear. Can't believe Dan playing dirty to earn a shield to save himself from being killed ended with him being banished instead! What a twist! Minah does it again! Now we've got a week to wait who loses their life...

Surely Linda will be banished soon. She can’t keep surviving while hamming it up too much.

Like Minah said, she needs to up her game or she's on her own. Seems she's trying a new tactic of "I've had enough now, do what you want." Dan going helps her though, she could do with Fozia being killed now.

That was a con.  The free weekend was Friday to Sunday, so I assumed the free week was from Monday.

Apple have just charged me a month's sub and it's still only Sunday. I wasn't expecting to have to do anything before Monday. I haven't received any communication from them so I never agreed to anything.

Obviously I have been into Paypal and cancelled all further payments, but Apple say the sub is non-refundable.  Arseholes.

Edit - they did send a message to the icloud email address that I never use. But it says the sub was due on 11 Jan. That's not a week. So still sharp practice IMO.
