"We have an investigation underway, but it's an investigation into a hoax," said NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton. "We strongly believe that the email that was received in New York City was similar, almost exactly the same as received in other localities, specifically Los Angeles, that we do not see that as a credible terrorist threat and we are investigating that as a hoax."

The city's police commissioner, William Bratton, said an emailed threat came from overseas, purporting to be from jihadists, but was not considered credible.

He said he thought Los Angeles officials overreacted.

But LA Police Chief Charlie Beck responded by saying it was "irresponsible" to criticise when you didn't have the responsibility of safeguarding three-quarters of a million lives.

 

Yep, NYC doesn't have three-quarters of a million lives to safeguard, they have 1.1 million.

Attacker 'kills six' at Jazan education office

 

An attacker has opened fire at an education department office in Saudi Arabia's southern Jazan province, killing six employees, officials have said.

Two other people have been wounded in the assault, in the remote community of Ad Dair, next to the border with Yemen.

The attacker has been arrested, an official said.

No motive has been given for the attack, and authorities say they are treating it as a criminal act.
